MEXC Ranks No. 2 in Commodity Perpetuals With 17.43% Market Share in Q3, TokenInsight Reports

MEXC ranked second in commodity perpetuals trading volume in the third quarter of 2026, capturing a 17.43% market share, according to TokenInsight's Crypto Exchange Report. The report also found that TradFi perpetuals accounted for 17.38% of MEXC's derivatives trading volume, the third-highest proportion among the nine exchanges tracked.

The TokenInsight study examined 20 exchanges, 11 of which were selected for in-depth analysis based on market share, trading volume, and open interest.

For readers new to the format, perpetual futures are derivative contracts without a fixed expiry date. The instrument originated in cryptocurrency markets and has more recently been extended by major exchanges to traditional assets such as stocks, indices, and commodities, which TokenInsight groups under the TradFi perpetuals label. The Q3 figures put hard numbers on how much trading activity that crypto–traditional finance crossover now carries.

In Q3, MEXC recorded $1.069 trillion in total trading volume, ranking fourth among the exchanges covered in the report. Its overall market share reached 8.91%, up 0.38 percentage points from the previous quarter, the third-largest increase among major exchanges. Derivatives trading volume came in at $963 billion, representing a 9.67% market share and a fourth-place ranking. Together, MEXC, Binance, OKX, and Bybit accounted for roughly 70% of the derivatives market.

Second in Commodity Perpetuals

MEXC posted $86 billion in commodity perpetuals trading volume during the quarter, equivalent to a 17.43% market share and the second-largest among the exchanges tracked. That figure was roughly twice the volume of the third-ranked exchange, and MEXC and Binance together made up approximately three-quarters of the commodity perpetuals market.

For traders on crypto platforms, these contracts provide direct price exposure to assets long traded in traditional commodities markets.

Within the segment, gold (XAU) accounted for 51% of trading volume, while gold, silver (XAG), and WTI crude oil together represented 91%. MEXC ranked second in both gold and silver perpetuals.

Among the eight commodities examined, MEXC placed in the top three in six, ranking second in gold (XAU), silver (XAG), Brent crude (BZ), copper, and platinum (XPT), and third in palladium (XPD).

TradFi Perpetuals at 17.38% of Derivatives Volume

TokenInsight reported that TradFi perpetuals represented 17.38% of MEXC's derivatives trading volume in Q3, the third-highest proportion among the nine exchanges tracked, behind Binance (26.25%) and Bitget (22.06%). MEXC was among five exchanges where TradFi perpetuals exceeded 10% of derivatives volume, alongside Binance, Bitget, OKX (15.76%), and Gate (12.32%). On those five venues, double-digit shares make traditional-asset contracts a material component of derivatives business rather than a side offering.

Across the nine exchanges, TradFi perpetuals generated $2.1 trillion in trading volume for the quarter, with equity perpetuals accounting for 77%, or $1.61 trillion. Monthly TradFi perpetuals volume peaked at $793 billion in August, while commodity perpetuals volume rose throughout the quarter, reaching $188 billion in September.

Since TokenInsight publishes the report quarterly, the Q4 edition will show whether that within-quarter climb in commodity volume and the August peak carried over into the new quarter.

7.28% of Equity Perpetuals Market, No. 2 in NVDA

MEXC recorded $117 billion in equity perpetuals trading volume in Q3, a 7.28% market share that ranked fourth among the nine exchanges tracked. Its volume trailed the third-ranked exchange by just $5 billion.

Activity was concentrated at the top of the market: the 20 largest equity perpetuals contracts accounted for 88% of total volume, with the top five alone representing 64%. Memory-chip stocks and ETFs were particularly active, making up seven of the top 20 contracts. MEXC ranked second in NVDA and SAMSUNG perpetuals and third in SKHYNIX, SOXL, MU, and TSLA. Overall, the exchange placed among the top three in six of the 20 equity perpetuals contracts.
