MEX Exchange Appoints David Ogg as Vice Chairman and Brian Andreyko as CEO

MEX Exchange, the institutional electronic trading platform operated by MultiBank Group, has announced two senior leadership appointments as it works to expand its institutional trading capabilities. David Ogg has been promoted to Vice Chairman, while Brian Andreyko has been named Chief Executive Officer. The hires bring deep backgrounds in electronic FX trading to a multi-asset group best known for its retail brokerage business, signaling a sharpened focus on the institutional segment, where competition among venues has intensified as trading migrates further onto electronic platforms.

Ogg brings more than four decades of experience in foreign exchange trading and trading technology to his new role. Widely recognized within the institutional FX industry as the “Father of the ECN,” he founded HotspotFX in 1999 — the first institutional FX electronic communications network — and later established LavaFX and Ogg Trading. ECNs transformed institutional FX by replacing voice broking and single-dealer platforms with anonymous, order-book style matching, a model that now underpins much of the spot FX market.

His career also includes senior positions at Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers, HSBC, and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, along with work alongside Bloomberg and Citibank on institutional FX solutions. He has been inducted into the Profit & Loss Hall of Fame.

Andreyko joins the exchange with more than 30 years of experience across financial technology and institutional markets, having built and scaled several electronic trading businesses. He previously held the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff at Currenex, and served as Executive Vice President and Head of EBS at ICAP — two of the most widely used institutional FX trading venues of their era. He was also CEO of MakoFX/Liquidity Pool and Chief Business Officer at TradAir, both of which were later acquired.

In statements accompanying the announcement, both executives pointed to plans to broaden MEX Exchange's institutional offering, with Andreyko highlighting a focus on connecting emerging market and global participants through a scalable trading platform. The appointments come as MultiBank Group continues to invest in the leadership and infrastructure of its exchange business. What to watch next is whether the new leadership translates these hires into concrete venue enhancements — such as expanded liquidity, asset coverage, or connectivity — as MEX Exchange seeks to establish itself among established institutional FX platforms.
