Mercado Bitcoin, Brazil's largest digital-asset platform with roughly 4.5 million customers, has announced a cooperation with the Sui blockchain that will bring support for SUI, USDC and the network's native dollar stablecoin, USDsui, to its retail customer base. The announcement was made on Thursday, according to COINOTAG.

Per the announcement, the agreement also encompasses additional plans beyond the initial token support. The report did not detail those plans or a rollout timeline, leaving the full scope of the cooperation an item to track as further information emerges.

The integration puts Sui ecosystem assets in front of one of Latin America's largest retail crypto audiences. Brazil, the region's largest economy, is regularly cited among its most active digital-asset markets, where dollar-pegged stablecoins have been a prominent use case according to industry adoption reports.

What the Integration Covers

Under the cooperation, Mercado Bitcoin's retail users will gain access to three Sui ecosystem assets: SUI, the network's native token; USDC, the US dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Circle; and USDsui, the Sui network's native dollar stablecoin.

Two of the three assets are dollar-linked stablecoins, an asset class that has historically accounted for a significant share of retail crypto activity across Latin America.

About the Sui Blockchain

Sui is a layer-1 blockchain whose mainnet launched in May 2023. It was developed by Mysten Labs, a company founded by former Meta engineers who previously worked on the Diem stablecoin project. The network is built on the Move programming language and an object-centric data model, and its native token, SUI, is used to pay for transactions and participate in network security.

USDsui extends the network's stablecoin layer natively, complementing dollar-pegged issuances such as USDC. For layer-1 networks, listings on established regional retail venues are a direct route to widening everyday access to ecosystem assets.
