MariControl has been launched as a new maritime data technology company focused on helping shipowners make better use of vessel data.

DBMatic, part of De Boer Marine, and Weforsea Shipping formed the company after years of working together on different parts of the vessel data chain, the companies said in an emailed statement on Wednesday. The new venture brings those functions under one brand at a time when shipping companies are facing growing pressure to connect operational data more effectively across fleets and comply with increasingly digital reporting needs.

MariControl combines onboard hardware, connectivity, software and AI-driven analysis in one platform. Its applications include vessel performance monitoring, predictive maintenance, weather routing, fuel and emissions optimisation, and digital reporting.

Technology from DBMatic and Weforsea is already installed on more than 250 vessels, giving the company an existing base of operational experience to build on.

On the fishing trawler UK225 Auke Senior, the companies' systems provide voyage optimisation, energy-efficiency insights, market data and weather information through a single dashboard, showing how the platform is intended to bring information that is often spread across separate tools into one interface.

The company will initially target customers in the Netherlands and the wider European market, with plans to expand internationally.
