Manulife Philippines, formally The Manufacturers Life Insurance Co. (Philippines) Inc., has introduced an upgraded version of its single-payment life insurance plan that guarantees annual payouts, designed to help customers preserve capital while maintaining life insurance protection.
The new product, called Wealth Guarantee Plus, provides guaranteed annual cash payouts of up to 5% for single premiums worth P3 million and above over a seven-year period, the insurer announced on Monday. Single premiums below that threshold receive a guaranteed rate of 4.75%. The plan requires a minimum single premium of P300,000.
Under the policy's terms, the full premium is returned to the customer by the end of the term. In addition, the plan includes life insurance coverage equivalent to 125% of the single premium throughout the policy period. Products of this kind bundle a guaranteed-return savings component with insurance cover, an appeal for customers weighing alternatives such as long-term time deposits, which in the Philippines have offered elevated but gradually easing rates as the central bank cuts policy rates from their recent highs.
Manulife Philippines said the product delivers higher cash payouts over a longer period compared with earlier versions of the plan. As an illustration, a customer who pays a single premium of P3 million will receive P150,000 annually for seven years, with the full P3 million returned at the end of the seventh year.
"With returns guaranteed by the policy and not dependent on market performance, Wealth Guarantee Plus gives customers greater certainty over their income for a defined period. This can help them plan more confidently for key financial goals, from education funding to retirement income and other long-term needs," the insurer said in a statement.
The launch comes as insurers in the Philippines continue to pursue growth in a market where insurance penetration remains low relative to the region, with guaranteed-payout products often used to introduce first-time customers to life insurance. According to the latest data from the Insurance Commission, Manulife Philippines posted premium income of P14.39 billion in 2025, along with net income of P1.966 billion. — Aaron Michael C. Sy
