British television personality Katie Price is reportedly moving to divorce her husband Lee Andrews after a cryptocurrency wallet he had presented as evidence of a $50 million fortune was found to hold a balance of roughly $3.

Andrews had told Price that he held approximately $50 million in cryptocurrency and would give her access to part of the money. He later provided a recovery phrase, which a financial expert used on August 31 to access the wallet. At the time of the check, it contained £2.22.

The episode illustrates a broader verification challenge with self-custodied crypto assets: because wallets are controlled by private keys and recovery phrases rather than registered accounts, claims of large holdings can be difficult for counterparties — including spouses and courts — to confirm or value without on-chain records or exchange statements. Family-law practitioners in several jurisdictions have reported that undisclosed or hard-to-trace crypto holdings have become a recurring issue in divorce proceedings.

Wallet Had Previously Peaked Near £10,720

The wallet reportedly reached a maximum balance of about $14,490, or £10,720, on a single day in March, before the funds were transferred out that same day.

No public wallet address or transaction record accompanied the disclosure, which prevents independent verification of the balance history or confirmation that the wallet represented Andrews' wider crypto holdings. The figures come from original reporting based on a source close to Price, who described the wallet examination and the access credentials.

A recovery phrase grants control over the addresses generated from a given wallet, but possession of one phrase does not establish the full extent of a person's holdings across other wallets, exchanges, or financial accounts.

The discrepancy nevertheless became the final reported break in a relationship that was already under strain due to Andrews' finances and his legal problems in Dubai.

Price Consults Lawyer After WhatsApp Confrontation

Price reportedly confronted Andrews via WhatsApp after the wallet was accessed, telling him she believed she had been deceived. She subsequently consulted a London divorce lawyer about ending the marriage.

Price had not publicly commented on the divorce reports as of September 2, while ITV described her as looking to file rather than treating the divorce as completed.

The couple's relationship developed rapidly. Price announced their engagement on January 23, held a ceremony in Dubai on January 25, and formally registered the marriage at Abu Dhabi's civil family court on February 17.

Andrews has spent periods in custody in Dubai since May over civil matters and returned to Al Awir prison in July. Price had not seen him since June by the time the split was reported.

Crypto Claim Follows Months of Questions Over Andrews' Finances

Questions over Andrews' claimed wealth surfaced soon after the marriage. Price initially defended him publicly, saying in March that she had seen evidence supporting his financial position.

By August 31, she had removed her wedding ring, and the wallet check was followed the next day by her reported decision to end the relationship. Price has since been photographed without the ring and has continued posting from Marbella while legal discussions over the marriage proceed.

As of September 3, Price is reported to have consulted divorce counsel and ended the relationship, but no completed divorce has been publicly established. Whether any divorce filing proceeds, and whether the wallet examination features in formal proceedings, remains to be seen.
