New York Times reporter Jonathan Swan addressed a newly circulating AI-generated image depicting President Donald Trump kissing his top White House aide on a golf course during a recent interview appearance. AI-generated images of political figures have become increasingly common on social media in recent years, often spreading widely before their fabricated origins are flagged.

Swan, who recently co-authored a book with colleague Maggie Haberman about the new administration based exclusively on interviews with White House staff — without speaking to Trump himself — offered fresh details about the aide, Natalie Harp, and what the authors described as her "obsession" with the president. Harp is the staffer who posts Trump's remarks to social media and travels with a battery-operated printer so she can print out documents whenever the president asks for something. Before joining Trump's team, Harp worked as a host at the conservative network One America News. Swan rose to prominence at Axios, where his on-camera interviews with Trump drew wide attention during the president's first term, while Haberman has covered Trump for more than two decades.

During the conversation, The Bulwark's Tim Miller pressed Swan for more information about Harp specifically and her relationship with the president. The Bulwark is a conservative commentary outlet known for its Never Trump editorial stance.

"I mean the mash notes, the love notes. Maggie did duck the question that I had about whether Trump is impotent or not," Miller said.

A disgusted Swan reacted, "Oh, god. Dude!" He then asked, "What are you Howard Stern?"

"Well, I think it's noteworthy that Trump spent his whole career sexually assaulting people for like 30 years. He has like — dozens of women have accused him of sexual assault and now none," Miller said. He clarified that he was not asking Swan to speculate, but rather whether there was actual reporting on the president's health in that regard. Swan said he did not know.

Steering back to Harp, Miller argued the situation was stranger than questions about Trump's virility. "Just, I kind of think it's weird; this is kinda my point. It's weirder than" questions about the president's virility, he said.

"I think it's uh the story of a young woman who is completely devoted and obsessed with the president," Swan said.

Swan also discussed members of Trump's Cabinet causing problems for the president, including Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Lutnick, a longtime Wall Street executive who once led the financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald and co-chaired Trump's transition team, is facing accusations of corruption after his department handed a contract to a company working with his sons. That controversy, combined with Lutnick's association with trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, is making Trump look bad.

Swan noted that Lutnick recently gave $25 million to the Trump library. Presidential libraries are typically built with privately raised donations rather than government funds.

"And Trump, in meetings in front of Lutnick and others, would say, 'You know, the only reason I'm putting up with Howard's bull—— is that he gave me $25 million.'"

Swan added that Trump makes comments such as, "How great is Howard? You know, I asked him for the money, he gave it straight away."
