The company posted $1.91 billion in quarterly revenue and lifted its dividend by more than 71% from its previous payout. Interactive Brokers operates an automated global electronic brokerage connecting clients to markets worldwide.

Revenue and Earnings Increase

Interactive Brokers reported revenue of $1.91 billion for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, an increase from $1.66 billion a year earlier, as its global brokerage business continued to expand. Adjusted revenue reached $1.87 billion, up from $1.61 billion in the prior-year period. Both reported and adjusted measures improved year over year across revenue, per-share earnings and pretax income. For an electronic brokerage, commissions on client trades and interest earned on client balances are the two largest revenue engines, and both climbed during the period.

Reported diluted earnings per share rose to $0.69 from $0.59 a year earlier, while adjusted earnings per share climbed to $0.67 from $0.57. The brokerage lifted reported pretax income to $1.50 billion from $1.31 billion, and adjusted pretax income rose to $1.45 billion from $1.27 billion.

Despite the across-the-board gains, the company's pretax margin slipped to 78% from 79% under both reporting measures, even as pretax income grew in dollar terms on both measures. Total equity stood at $23.3 billion at the end of September.

Trading Activity and Customer Balances Grow

Commission revenue jumped 12% to $602 million daily average revenue trades climbed 18%. Clients placed 4.27 million such trades per day across the trading platform during the quarter. Volume trends diverged by asset class: futures volume increased 13%, while stock volume fell 24% and options volume declined 1%. That split meant client activity grew in futures while contracting in equities over the period.

Net interest income grew 19% to $1.15 billion, driven by larger margin loan balances and higher customer credits. Customer margin loans rose 36% to $105.2 billion, and customer credit balances increased 20% to $186.2 billion. Because net interest income is earned on those client balances, their double-digit growth underpinned the line's 19% rise. Other fees and services grew 33% to $88 million, including higher risk exposure fees.

The firm's client base also expanded. Customer accounts rose 35% year over year to 5.58 million as of September 30, and customer equity climbed 27% to $964.7 billion, widening the pool of assets on the platform. On the cost side, execution, clearing and distribution expenses rose 46% to $134 million, reflecting higher regulatory fees — an increase that outpaced the roughly 15% year-over-year revenue growth recorded in the period.

Quarterly Dividend Raised 71.4%

Alongside its financial results, the company announced a substantial increase in its quarterly cash dividend. The board approved a rise from $0.0875 to $0.15 per share, a 71.4% increase that comes alongside higher earnings and revenue. The new quarterly rate works out to $0.60 per share on an annualized basis, up from $0.35 previously. Payment is scheduled for December 14, 2026, to eligible shareholders, with December 1 set as the dividend record date. Account growth, trading volumes and client margin balances are the reported metrics to track when the company's next quarterly update arrives.

In a separate development, other income fell 18% to $70 million as investing income weakened. Currency diversification gains partly offset the decline, although the currency strategy also affected comprehensive earnings. The strategy generated a $40 million gain within other income, but a $44 million loss recorded under other comprehensive income reduced total comprehensive earnings by $4 million.
