Intellicare Puts Healthcare Access at the Heart of Growth, Pays ₱9.35 Billion in Claims in First Half of 2026

As the Philippine health maintenance organization (HMO) industry continues to expand, Intellicare has placed healthcare access at the center of that growth, paying ₱9.35 billion in healthcare benefits and claims during the first half of 2026.

The payouts enabled members to obtain consultations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, emergency care, and hospitalization services across the company's healthcare network, translating coverage into actual care when members needed it.

Data from the latest performance report of the Insurance Commission (IC), which regulates the HMO industry, showed that healthcare benefits and claims across the industry ₱41.23 billion in the six-month period ending June 30, 2026, an increase of 13.62 percent from ₱36.29 billion in the same period a year earlier. Total industry revenues rose 19.99 percent to ₱56.43 billion, while membership fees, the payments members make in exchange for coverage, climbed 19.71 percent to ₱54.82 billion, accounting for the bulk of industry revenues. Industry assets stood at ₱99.64 billion, up 18.75 percent year on year. Claims growth trailed the pace of both revenue and membership-fee gains over the period.

For Intellicare, the figures underscore the increasingly important role HMOs play in ensuring that industry growth translates into meaningful access to healthcare, particularly as Filipinos navigate rising healthcare costs and other financial pressures.

Intellicare itself reported ₱12.57 billion in revenues and ₱21.88 billion in total assets as of June 30, alongside the ₱9.35 billion it paid in healthcare benefits and claims during the period — a payout total equal to more than a fifth of the ₱41.23 billion in industry-wide claims. Far more than a financial indicator, the company noted, these claims represent members receiving needed care while reducing out-of-pocket healthcare costs that could otherwise place significant strain on household finances.

"Members rely on us not only for access to healthcare providers but also for the assurance that their healthcare coverage will be there when they need it," said Jeremy Matti, President of Intellicare. "For many Filipinos, healthcare concerns are also financial concerns. Every healthcare claim paid represents a member receiving care, support, and peace of mind. Our responsibility is to help ensure that members can focus on getting better instead of worrying about how they will pay for treatment."

The commitment is embodied in Care Within Reach, Intellicare's guiding principle for ensuring that healthcare remains accessible, relevant, and responsive to the evolving needs of Filipinos. Through its network of hospitals, clinics, physicians, and industry partners, the company works to strengthen access to care and help members connect with healthcare providers, navigate their benefits, and receive support when they need it.

As Intellicare looks ahead to its 31st year, it remains focused on strengthening healthcare access through responsive service, strong provider partnerships, and solutions that help members navigate an increasingly complex healthcare environment. Upcoming IC performance reports will offer the next industry-wide reading on how claims, revenues, and membership fees moved through the remainder of 2026.
