Imricor Medical Systems (ASX: IMR) has launched a new Interventional MR (iMR) lab solution in collaboration with Dutch multinational health technology company Royal Philips.
The combined iMR lab solution brings together Philips’ high-performance 1.5 Tesla (1.5T) MRI platform and interventional workflow capabilities with Imricor’s portfolio of MR-compatible systems and consumables.
Imricor chair, president and CEO Steve Wedan said the first commercially available configuration is designed to enable iMR-guided workflows for cardiac interventions, including cardiac electrophysiology procedures.
“With interventional MR, the idea is not to move procedures into diagnostic MRI suites, but rather to bring MR imaging into the procedure room. Our collaboration with Philips has always been driven by this shared vision, and with our combined iMR lab solution, that vision becomes a reality today,” Mr Wedan said.
“Pairing Philips’ world-class 1.5T MR platform with Imricor’s exclusive portfolio of advanced iMR systems and interventional tools creates the world’s first state-of-the-art high-performance iMR lab solution. The launch follows Philips’ third party declaration of compatibility and marks a significant milestone in the longstanding Philips-Imricor partnership, which has advanced since 2012 from joint technology development to the commercial launch of a purpose-built iMR lab solution. For clinicians and hospitals, the commercial availability of a pre-configured solution can matter because MR-guided procedures depend not only on scanner capability but also on compatible workflow, devices and lab integration.

Interventional magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) is the use of MRI scanner technology to guide minimally invasive surgical and diagnostic procedures in real time. The launch also places the partnership within a broader shift toward image-guided intervention, where MRI is being used not just to detect disease but to support procedures as they are performed.
