Hyperliquid Traders Report Wallet Flags After HTX Transfers
Key Takeaways
- •A Hyperliquid trader known as x256.hl reported on October 25 that their wallet was flagged after receiving a loan repayment sent from HTX, an exchange they said they had never used.
- •The United Kingdom sanctioned Huobi Global S.A. in May over alleged financial services tied to Russia-linked entities, and UK officials later said HTX is covered under ownership rules despite the company's claim of separation.
- •Several platforms, including FixedFloat, Kraken, OKX and Binance, introduced checks, warnings or transaction limits on HTX-linked transfers between June and August.
- •Another user said three wallets holding 99.5% of their net worth were blocked from Hyperliquid's official frontend in June, which prevented them from claiming Kinetiq Season 2 rewards despite ranking among the top 150 users.
- •Hyperliquid has not publicly explained which transaction or screening rules triggered the recent flag, and a June support ticket that received an initial reply from co-founder iliensinc remains without final resolution.

A Hyperliquid trader says their wallet was flagged as high risk after a friend repaid a loan using funds from HTX, formerly known as Huobi. The trader says they had never used HTX and did not know about the exchange’s sanctions issues.
The case has raised questions about how sanctions screening affects users who did not directly interact with a sanctioned platform. Hyperliquid has not publicly explained which transaction or screening rules triggered the latest flag.
In an October 25, 2026, post on X, the trader known as x256.hl said they had lent a friend several thousand dollars months earlier. The friend later repaid the loan from HTX.
Ok, so now I know what happened. A few months ago, I lent a friend a few grand. He paid me back from Huobi (HTX), which I didn’t even know at the time. I’ve never used Huobi myself, and he had no idea the exchange had any sanctions issues either. Now my Hyperliquid wallet is… — x256.hl (@x256xx) October 25, 2026
The trader said their friend also did not know about HTX’s sanctions problems. The user asked whether small transfers from HTX to other Hyperliquid wallets could cause those addresses to be flagged. No automatic ban mechanism of this kind has been confirmed.
Hyperliquid users report restrictions
Another Hyperliquid user, @0xasrequired, said they experienced similar problems after interacting with HTX. They referred to an earlier X post describing how three of their wallets were blocked from Hyperliquid’s official frontend in June.

Two wallets were flagged on June 2 and a third on June 5. The trader said the wallets held 99.5% of their net worth. Their Hyperliquid history reportedly included more than $210 million in trading volume, along with more than $60,000 in trading fees and $50,000 in builder fees.
The trader said they could still access Hyperliquid through other interfaces, but losing access to the official frontend could prevent them from signing terms required for future airdrop claims. The distinction matters because the restrictions described here bind an interface’s terms-gated access rather than the traders’ on-chain positions, yet still reach benefits such as airdrop claims that depend on signing through the official site. In a later exchange, @0xasrequired said they could not claim Kinetiq Season 2 rewards despite ranking among the top 150 users.
The original complainant said they were able to claim their Kinetiq rewards, even though the HTX-linked transfer took place before the final snapshot.
UK sanctions prompted broader screening
The restrictions followed the United Kingdom’s May 26 sanctions against Huobi Global S.A. British authorities accused the company of providing financial services connected to Russia-linked entities, including A7 and Garantex.
HTX argued that the sanctions did not apply to its exchange because Huobi Global S.A. was a separate legal entity. UK officials later said they considered HTX to be covered under ownership rules.
Other platforms subsequently took action. In June, FixedFloat held Huobi-linked funds for additional checks, while Kraken and OKX warned users about transfers involving HTX. In August, Binance announced transaction limits involving HTX and 10 other platforms. Taken together, the measures made HTX-linked transfers a cross-platform compliance issue spanning exchanges and swap services rather than a single venue’s policy.
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT criticized the treatment of ordinary users whose wallets had links to HTX.
In June, @0xasrequired said discussions with Blockaid, Chainalysis and TRM indicated that those companies provide data and risk scores, while individual platforms decide which wallets to restrict. The trader claimed Hyperliquid had identified Chainalysis as its screening provider, although that claim has not been independently confirmed. That division of labor means outcomes can differ by venue, since the same wallet can clear one platform’s checks while remaining restricted on another.
The trader also said their wallets passed checks from GoPlus Security and Blockaid but remained restricted on Hyperliquid. They described separate restrictions involving GRVT and OpenSea.
In another case, a Hyperliquid user named Maxime said their wallet was incorrectly flagged after receiving a $0.02 transfer linked to a suspicious address. Frontend access was later restored.
In the June case, @0xasrequired said they opened a support ticket on Discord and received an initial reply from Hyperliquid co-founder iliensinc, but no final resolution. As of the latest complaint, Hyperliquid has not publicly explained which transaction or screening rules caused the new flag. The open items going forward are the ones the traders themselves raised: the specific rule behind the October flag, whether incoming HTX transfers can flag additional wallets, and a final answer in the June support ticket.
