Vanadium Resources (ASX: VR8) drew interest on the HotCopper forum after it said a wholly owned subsidiary has reached an agreement that supports its strategy to develop a next-generation critical minerals smelter.

The V-Iron Plant will utilise ore from the company’s Steelpoortdrift project, tying the announcement to an existing asset rather than a new greenfield site.

Executive chairman Jurie Wessels said VR8 considers the site a strong candidate for the proposed construction of the company’s next-generation critical minerals smelter, the V-Iron Plant.

“By re-establishing vanadium and iron co-production on a brownfield site with a proven industrial pedigree, VR8 gains material advantages in cost, schedule and permitting relative to a greenfield development.”

VR8 jumped 57.9% to 3.0¢.

MaxiPARTS (ASX: MXI) rose after receiving a proposal from Ares Management Asia Singapore to acquire 100% of the shares in MaxiPARTS for a cash offer price of $2.50 per share.

The MaxiPARTS board determined it is in the best interests of shareholders to enter into an exclusivity deed to facilitate a four-week exclusivity period for Ares to complete due diligence and negotiate a scheme implementation deed, with the intention of agreeing a binding transaction. For investors watching the stock, the timing of that process matters because the deal is not yet final and still depends on the usual due diligence and documentation steps.

MaxiPARTS also entered into a binding agreement to acquire the assets of Air Brake Systems Unit Trust (ABS), one of Australia’s largest suppliers of brake system components for heavy-duty trucks, buses and trailers. ABS covers most global OE vehicle and component manufacturers and their related aftermarkets.

The assets of ABS will be acquired for $11.2 million, with 75% payable on completion and 12.5% payable at one and two years post-completion, subject to specific performance criteria being met.

MXI was up 28.7% to $2.20.

Dotz Nano (ASX: DTZ) announced three milestones in the build-out of its Dotz Energy decarbonisation and energy-savings platform.

These included a confidential letter of intent with Eneriqs AI covering a proposed technology licence and an option to acquire Eneriqs assets.

Dotz Energy also achieved its first commercial customer agreement, a pilot deployment of ChillerAI with Limassol Shopping Centre, and a reseller and revenue-share agreement with Bridgeford Group, which appoints Bridgeford as a commercialisation and distribution partner for Dotz ChillerAI solutions. Together, those developments show the company moving from platform build-out toward early commercial activity.

“The Eneriqs technology adds an important new layer to our Dotz Energy decarbonisation and energy-savings stack,” CEO Nati Harpaz said.

DTZ climbed 50.0% to 2.4¢.

Looking wider, the S&P/ASX 200 was up on the day, gaining 37.20 points or 0.41% to 9,015.60 after setting a new 20-day low. The index has lost 0.25% over the last five days but sits 3.02% below its 52-week high.

Elsewhere, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reported the first drop in theft and robbery in Australia since COVID-19.

Victims of theft, excluding motor vehicles, and robbery recorded by police in 2025 fell for the first time since declines in 2020 and 2021 respectively, according to figures released today by the ABS.

Samantha Hall, ABS head of crime and justice statistics, said that nationally in 2025 the number of robbery victims dropped by 8% from the previous year to 10,591 victims, while theft victims fell by 2%.

Robbery and theft numbers declined in most states and territories. Queensland recorded the largest decrease in robbery, down 403 victims or 13%, followed by New South Wales, down 255 victims or 11%.
