Hana Bank has officially opened its new Foreign Exchange Capital Transaction Center at Place 1 in Samseong-dong, southern Seoul, aiming to provide comprehensive one-stop services for cross-border financial transactions.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, attended by Hana Bank CEO Lee Ho-sung, Barun Law Managing Partner Lee Dong-hoon, Yulchon Chairman and Managing Partner Kang Seok-hoon, and other officials. Hana Bank is the flagship banking subsidiary of Hana Financial Group, one of South Korea's largest financial services conglomerates and part of the country's dominant four banking groups alongside KB Financial, Shinhan Financial, and Woori Financial.
The new center is designed to offer integrated services covering foreign direct investment, overseas investment, and relocation-related financing. It will collaborate with major law and accounting firms to support clients navigating complex cross-border transactions, reflecting the multi-disciplinary expertise required when international capital flows touch tax, regulatory, and legal frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
"Through the center, we will deliver faster, more specialized solutions for complex foreign exchange transactions and further strengthen our position as a trusted foreign exchange specialist," Lee Ho-sung said.
The launch reflects growing demand from South Korean corporations and individuals for sophisticated foreign exchange and cross-border advisory services as international business activity and overseas investment continue to expand. South Korea's outbound foreign direct investment has climbed to record levels in recent years, driven by corporate expansion into overseas markets and increasing portfolio diversification by wealthy individuals. Rival lenders have likewise been broadening their wealth management and cross-border advisory capabilities to compete for high-value corporate and private clients, making specialized service centers an emerging competitive differentiator among Korea's major banks.
