Greenland Mines (NASDAQ: GRML) said Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada has granted a patent covering technology exclusively licensed by the company for Klotho-based gene therapies targeting cognition, memory and neurodegenerative diseases. The patent protects the use of the secreted Klotho (“s-KL”) RNA splice variant in genetic therapies and includes 42 claims covering its synthesis, delivery methods and potential application across multiple neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (“ALS”) and multiple sclerosis.

The company said the Canadian patent expands its intellectual property portfolio for Klotho-based therapeutics and complements previously issued patents in the United States, China and Europe. Greenland Mines added that process development and manufacturing for lead candidate KLTO-101 is scheduled to begin in August 2026, while KLTO-202 has advanced to GMP manufacturing as the company prepares for regulatory interactions later this year.

The patent grant is a significant milestone for Greenland Mines, which operates two divisions: mining and biotech. The biotech division is focused on advancing Klotho’s KLTO‑202 primary indication for ALS, a disease area where treatment options remain limited and where patents and manufacturing readiness can be important for moving a therapy program toward formal review. The company’s strategy is centered on building a multi-asset platform with exposure to rare earth magnet materials, precious metals and selected midstream processing opportunities, while advancing its broader North Atlantic Critical Metals Corridor vision linking Greenland resources with allied downstream jurisdictions and industrial infrastructure.

The Canadian patent adds to the company’s growing intellectual property estate, which includes patents in the U.S., China and Europe. Greenland Mines said this protection could provide a competitive advantage in the development of gene therapies for neurological conditions that currently have limited treatment options. The company’s lead candidates, KLTO-101 and KLTO-202, are progressing through manufacturing stages, with KLTO-202 already in GMP manufacturing ahead of regulatory discussions.
