Globe Telecom's Chief Intelligence and Trust Officer Anton Bonifacio to Step Down in January

GLOBE Telecom, Inc. said Chief Intelligence and Trust Officer Anton Reynaldo M. Bonifacio will step down from his post effective Jan. 1, 2027.

In a regulatory filing, the Philippine telecommunications company said Mr. Bonifacio resigned to pursue personal interests after more than a decade with Globe.

"Mr. Bonifacio represented Globe in important conversations with technology and telecommunications leaders, both here and in the global space… Globe has been established not only as an adopter of emerging technology, but also a credible voice in shaping how technology can be deployed responsibly and at scale," Globe said.

The company said Garrett Silao will serve as officer-in-charge effective Jan. 1 and will report directly to Globe's president and chief executive officer. The officer-in-charge arrangement leaves the appointment of a permanent successor open, and how Globe eventually fills the post will indicate whether it keeps AI, cybersecurity, and digital policy combined under a single executive.

Globe added that artificial intelligence (AI), data, cybersecurity, and digital trust will remain among the company's areas of focus following the leadership change.

"We are grateful for Mr. Bonifacio's courage and foresight, and for taking the helm of Globe's journey into cybersecurity, information security, and the then-unknown field of AI," it said.

From First Chief AI Officer to Intelligence and Trust Chief

Mr. Bonifacio was appointed Globe's first chief AI officer in 2024 after establishing a group focused on the adoption of the technology. In July 2026, he assumed the expanded role of chief intelligence and trust officer after Globe consolidated its AI, cybersecurity, and digital policy functions under one office. Because that office has existed only since July, the Jan. 1 handover will be its first leadership transition, with the combined AI, cybersecurity, and digital policy brief under interim oversight while a permanent appointment is pending.

Market Move

Globe, one of the Philippines' leading telecommunications providers, saw its shares fall P6, or 0.39%, to close at P1,548 apiece.
