GLOBE TELECOM, Inc. has expanded its fifth-generation (5G) network in Pavia, Iloilo, with more than 10 5G sites complementing more than 15 cell sites serving the municipality.
In a statement on Monday, Globe said the rollout is part of its continuing network investments in Iloilo and across the Visayas to meet rising mobile data demand and improve customer experience.
“Pavia continues to grow as a center for business and livelihood in Iloilo, and we want our network to grow with it. By strengthening 5G connectivity in the municipality, we are helping give residents and businesses a better mobile experience while supporting the opportunities that come with Pavia’s continued development,” said Jimbo Cordero, Globe general manager for the Visayas.
Globe said customers using compatible devices can experience faster downloads and uploads, smoother video calls and streaming, and more responsive online services through improved 5G connectivity.
“This can support everyday activities such as online selling, digital payments and customer communications, giving local businesses and entrepreneurs more ways to connect with their markets,” the company said.
Pavia Mayor Laurence Anthony “Luigi” Gorriceta said improved connectivity could help local businesses reach more customers, promote the municipality as a destination, and expand access to online services and opportunities.
In June 2026, Barangay Anilao in Pavia was declared the “Sorbete Capital of Iloilo,” recognizing generations of local sorbete makers and their contribution to the province’s culinary heritage. Globe’s network expansion adds digital infrastructure to a municipality that is building on both its commercial activity and local identity, as faster and more reliable mobile access becomes increasingly important for everyday transactions and communications.
Globe said it rolled out 408 new 5G sites in the first quarter, bringing outdoor 5G population coverage to more than 98% in Metro Manila and key cities across the Visayas and Mindanao.
