Glassnode Ranks Gate Third in BTC Spot Volume as Platform Expands Across Markets

Independent data is highlighting Gate’s growing share of activity across cryptocurrency and traditional markets. In its latest The Week On-Chain report, titled “Escape Velocity,” Glassnode — an on-chain analytics firm — ranked Gate third among the covered exchanges by Bitcoin spot trading volume. The ranking follows a two-year increase in Gate’s market share from 2.0% to 9.1%, the largest gain recorded among the venues tracked by Glassnode. Gate also ranked among the top three exchanges for BTC spot volume in nine of the past 24 months, indicating sustained growth rather than a single-period spike.

Glassnode reported that 24-hour spot volume across exchanges had increased 121% from its August low. Bitcoin was trading above the True Market Mean at $77,000 and the long-term holder supply block at $84,000–$85,000, both on-chain cost-basis levels tracked by Glassnode. Against that broader market recovery, Gate’s market-share gains were among the developments highlighted by the data.

DefiLlama, a blockchain analytics platform, also placed Gate among the three largest global centralized exchanges by 24-hour net inflows — a measure of how assets held on an exchange change over the period. Gate recorded $60.94 million, behind Binance at $809.49 million and Bybit at $196.74 million. The exchange also ranked among the top three venues by gold and silver futures volume during a week marked by significant macroeconomic volatility.

The developments were outlined in a weekly update published by Metaverse Post.

Macro Pressure and Institutional Trading

The macroeconomic environment remained challenging. The Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points, while the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield climbed to approximately 5%. Elevated rates continued to weigh on the pricing of risk assets.

Bitcoin and Ether came under pressure early in the week before recovering. Weekly Bitcoin exchange-traded fund flows improved from net outflows to approximately flat, while Ether ETFs recorded about $141 million in net outflows. Against this backdrop, Gate reported weekly TradFi trading volume of approximately $110 billion.

On-chain and derivatives markets also showed structural changes. Bitcoin open interest rose 6.42%, and funding rates remained positive. Gate Institutional is continuing to develop cross-market infrastructure, including its OES and CrossEx tools for API trading, cross-platform execution, and settlement coordination. The infrastructure is designed to support institutional activity across spot and futures markets, TradFi, stocks, ETFs, and options.

Metals Futures Activity Rises Amid Volatility

Hawkish signals from the Federal Reserve pushed precious metals lower during the week. Strong U.S. September purchasing managers’ index data — a survey-based gauge of business conditions — added to the pressure, lifting the dollar and Treasury yields. Gold (XAU) fell 1.53% to $4,278.29, while silver (XAG) declined 4.00% to $64.02.

Trading activity on Gate nevertheless increased. Silver futures reached $185 million in 24-hour volume, ranking second in the industry, while gold futures reached $388 million, placing third. Gate’s metals offering includes what the company describes as the industry’s first Metals Perpetual Futures and CFD section covering gold, silver, and platinum, with 24/7 USDT-settled trading.

The products are available through Gate’s Unified Account system, which allows users to manage metals alongside stocks, foreign exchange, indices, and crypto assets through one interface.

Options Trading and Hedging Challenge

Gate’s options market also recorded weekly gains. Total options trading volume increased 1.84% week over week, average daily trader numbers rose 16.64%, and participation by new users increased 5.67%.

Gate launched Season 2 of its Futures × Options Hedging Challenge as part of the campaign. New options users can earn 10 USDT after completing their first eligible trade, while all participants can earn up to 25 USDT per day by completing futures and options hedging tasks.

Additional Stocks and Forex Futures

Gate continued expanding its equities and foreign exchange futures offerings. Eight stock symbols were added to the Futures Stock Section, including MSTU, the 2X Long MSTR Daily Target ETF, as well as OKLO, BLSH, CORZ, and JEPQ. The additions brought the number of stocks supported for futures trading to 459, with leverage of up to x.

The Forex Section also added USDBRL, or USD/BRL, futures. All of the new listings included Trading Bots and Copy Trading support at launch.

Japanese equities recorded notable gains on the platform. Metaplanet (3350), the Tokyo-listed bitcoin treasury company, rose 20.16%, Ibiden (4062) advanced 14.62%, and Data Section (3905) increased 13.61%. Gate Stocks currently covers more than 12,800 stocks and ETFs across the U.S., Japanese, Hong Kong, and Korean markets. The assets can be traded with USDT, and fractional shares are available from as little as 0.01 share.

Event Contracts Extended to Stocks

Gate announced the launch of stock event contracts, which it describes as the world’s first such product. The contracts extend an offering that was previously available for crypto assets to traditional equity underlyings.

The product supports five-minute and 15-minute bullish or bearish positions without leverage, liquidation, or margin calls. Losses are limited to the initial stake, early exit is available at any time, and the minimum entry is 5 USDT.

Phase 2 of the Gate Event Contracts Trading Competition is scheduled to continue through October 1. The competition offers tiered rebates, rewards for new users, and a cumulative leaderboard prize pool of up to 12,500 USDT.

Meme Trading and GP Listing

Gate Research published a thematic report examining the evolution of Meme Terminals. The report said competition in the sector is moving beyond execution speed toward integrated capabilities, including the shift from Trading Terminals to Alpha Terminals, from Smart Money tracking to Social Graphs, and from Copy Trade to Agent Trade.

Gate’s response is Gate Trenches, which combines on-chain asset discovery, data analysis, and trade execution in a unified account experience. The service operates across more than 15 networks, including Solana, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Base.

Social discovery features such as KOL Rankings and Callout Rankings provide additional on-chain information. Trading fees start at 0.5%, while zero-gas trading on Robinhood Chain and Arc is available on a promotional basis.

Gate’s Futures Meme Section also added GP, a Solana-based token connected to the Gold Pieces currency from the classic game RuneScape. The listing supports leverage from 1x to 10x, along with Trading Bots and Copy Trading from launch.

Gate Live Examines U.S. Stocks After the FOMC

On September 24, Gate Live hosted the second episode of Lucas’s Global Stock Market Insights. Lucas Sum, Gate’s Head of Market Development for Equities, examined what market participants were pricing in after the latest Federal Open Market Committee meeting.

The session addressed changing interest-rate expectations, technology and artificial-intelligence sector dynamics, sector rotation, and the ways Federal Reserve policy affects stock valuations and capital flows. It also reviewed post-FOMC moves in U.S. equities, Treasury yields, and the dollar, and highlighted signals to monitor in the period ahead.

Gate’s activity during the week covered crypto spot and derivatives markets, traditional assets, institutional tools, and on-chain trading infrastructure. Glassnode’s exchange ranking, Bitcoin market data, and DefiLlama’s net-inflow figures provide the reported measures of that activity, and the recurring weekly cadence of both datasets offers benchmarks for tracking how exchange market share and net inflows evolve in coming reports.
