Six and seven companies submitted bids to develop and rehabilitate Tacloban and Busuanga airports, respectively, according to the Department of Transportation (DoTr), which cited the result of a pre-bid conference.
Earlier this month, the DoTr opened bidding for P1.24 billion worth of contracts for the development and rehabilitation of Tacloban and Busuanga airports. The bidding drew interest from domestic contractors, reflecting the government’s ongoing airport upgrade push aimed at improving regional connectivity and expanding capacity for travelers and air operations.
For the Busuanga airport project, the DoTr said it received bids from the domestic companies Hashtag Ventures, Yakal Construction, AC Tumang Construction, Protech Construction and Development Corp., RD Policarpio and Co., Inc., Syndtite Construction Corp., and JJ Tan, Inc.
In a bid notice released this month, the DoTr said it allocated P402.55 million for Busuanga Airport, covering site development and the initial construction of an apron and taxiway.
The DoTr is pursuing airport development projects to upgrade and expand facilities, meet rising passenger demand, and accommodate larger aircraft for improved connectivity with other airports.
Meanwhile, the P145.50-million Tacloban airport project covers the continuation and construction of the airport’s building facilities. Six companies submitted bids: Hashtag Ventures, Yakal Construction, AC Tumang Construction, Protech Construction and Development Corp., JJ Tan, Inc., and Aqualine Construction Corp.
They also submitted bids for the P695.25-million contract covering the civil works and rehabilitation of Tacloban Airport.
According to the bid invitation, the project covers airside facilities, and the winning bidder will have 300 calendar days, including 30 pre-determined unworkable days, to complete the work.
