Former Aptos advisor BuzzlamicJihad has left the crypto project after his one-year contract ended, describing the departure as “mutual” and telling Decrypt that he sold his APT tokens. He is now directing his guerrilla-style social media campaign toward Meta, Facebook’s parent company, arguing that retail investors have been overlooked and that the company has strong fundamentals.
The shift gives Buzz a substantially larger target. Meta’s market capitalization is roughly 2,619 times that of Aptos, making any attempt to influence the stock through a meme-driven campaign a significant challenge. It is also a notable crossover for the meme-campaign playbook, which was built on crypto tokens and is now being aimed at a trillion-dollar public company.
BuzzlamicJihad, who is known as Buzz among friends and family, gained prominence in early 2025 after an unofficial “community takeover” of Aptos helped draw attention to the project and boost the value of its APT token. The campaign followed months of community-building, meme posting and repeated use of phrases such as “Aptos lookin’ good here” and “sidelined?”

Buzz formally joined Aptos as an advisor in October 2025. At the time, he told Decrypt that he wanted to address what he viewed as the project’s image problem and position Aptos as a premium stablecoin network. After one year, the contract expired, and Buzz chose not to renew it.
“I didn’t see it going anywhere else, and some of the plans I had didn’t work out as intended,” Buzz told Decrypt. “So, I didn’t bother extending it and they didn’t seem willing to either anyways, so it’s mutual.”
Aptos did not respond to Decrypt’s request for comment.
APT has fallen 10.7% since the beginning of October to a market capitalization of $607 million, according to Decrypt data. Buzz told Decrypt that he has sold his APT holdings.
His interest in Aptos was closely tied to its connection to Facebook. Buzz previously told Decrypt that he made his money through Facebook advertising and had strong confidence in the team behind the social media company. Aptos was formed by developers who had worked on Libra, the now-defunct stablecoin project led by Facebook. Facebook unveiled Libra in 2019, and the effort was later rebranded as Diem before being wound down.
Buzz began posting on social media about Aptos in 2024, making expansive claims about the project’s potential, including a prediction that it would surpass XRP in market capitalization. After Aptos Labs founder Mo Shaikh stepped down in December 2024, Buzz bought more APT and began claiming that he was initiating a “community takeover” that had not been “priced in.” He repeated the latter phrase at least seven times through January while posting “Aptos lookin’ good here,” “sidelined?” and “motion not priced in yet” across social media.
In February 2025, prominent influencers backed the campaign, bringing more attention to Aptos. The APT token rose 17% over a 24-hour period.
Buzz said his approach to Meta is different. He does not believe Meta is failing or requires a hostile takeover, but said retail investors have been overlooked, particularly following the creation of Class C shares without voting rights. Unlike voting shares, non-voting shares give holders no say in corporate decisions such as board elections.
“I don’t think META is failing obviously and needs a hostile takeover, but retail is kind of forgotten, especially with the recent Class C share creation with no voting ability,” Buzz told Decrypt. “It’s also not entirely dependent on memetics here; I actually think they have strong fundamentals too.”
Buzz’s Meta campaign is still in its early stages as he experiments with messaging. He has already posted “META looking good here” and said he moved all of his communications from Telegram to WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta. However, Decrypt said it spoke with Buzz through Telegram while preparing the article. Whether other prominent influencers get behind the effort, as they did with Aptos in February 2025, is one detail to watch as the campaign develops.
Meta was down 1.2% on the day the campaign began, according to Yahoo! Finance data, and had a market capitalization of $1.59 trillion. Based on the two companies’ market capitalizations, Meta is 2,619 times larger than Aptos, making a measurable effect on its share price considerably more difficult.
A comparable example is Roaring Kitty, the meme-stock influencer who in January 2021 led a campaign around GameStop’s GME shares. Through posts on the r/WallStreetBets subreddit and livestreams, Roaring Kitty rallied individual investors behind GameStop while major hedge funds were seeking to short the stock. The episode sent GME to an all-time high, caused substantial losses for hedge funds and inspired the 2023 feature film “Dumb Money.”
Roaring Kitty’s campaign focused on a company that currently has a market capitalization of $11.85 billion, making Buzz’s target 134 times larger. The GameStop influencer briefly returned to social media in 2024 after more than two years of inactivity. He has since faded from public attention, despite unsubstantiated rumors that he would join GameStop’s board.
Buzz said he wants to help lead Meta into a new era. He also identified a potential connection between Meta’s artificial intelligence agent Muse and the company’s earlier cryptocurrency plans.
“I do think [Meta’s AI agent] Muse could also benefit hugely from stablecoin float economics from the original vision of GlobalCoin (later becoming Libra/Diem), so it’s not out of the question that they go back into crypto in a huge way,” Buzz told Decrypt. “And if they chose me to lead this in some capacity, I would be honored to do so.”
