Euroclear Completes 90% Acquisition of Inversis

Euroclear announced Tuesday that it has completed the acquisition of a 90% stake in Inversis from Banca March, bringing the Brussels-based financial market infrastructure group closer to full ownership of the Spanish firm.

The transaction follows Euroclear's initial 49% acquisition in March 2025 and represents a further step in expanding its funds business. It strengthens Euroclear FundsPlace, the group's funds distribution platform, and extends Euroclear's footprint across Southern Europe, where Euroclear has previously pursued similar moves, including the full acquisition of Spanish central securities depository Iberclear in 2020.

The deal combines Inversis' established local presence in funds and investment services with Euroclear's broader infrastructure and international network. It also reflects a broader trend among European market infrastructure operators of consolidating custody, settlement and fund services to gain scale as distribution chains become increasingly cross-border.

Euroclear FundsPlace currently connects more than 3,000 distributors and 2,500 asset managers worldwide, providing access to around 250,000 funds and operating €4.6 trillion through what the company describes as a standardised and scalable infrastructure.

According to Euroclear, the fund distribution platform is expected to be the first area to reflect the benefits of the combination as integration with the FundsPlace ecosystem develops. How quickly Inversis' distribution relationships are plugged into that network, and how the remaining 10% stake held outside Euroclear is treated, are points to watch as integration proceeds.

Inversis is also set to benefit from further investment in technology, operational resilience, cybersecurity and scalability. The company will continue to operate as a separate entity within the Euroclear Group, retaining its existing services, client relationships and local market expertise.

Valérie Urbain, Chief Executive Officer of Euroclear, called the transaction an important milestone in executing the group's funds strategy, adding that Inversis brings a strong local franchise and complementary capabilities.

Alberto del Cid, Chief Executive Officer of Inversis, said clients would continue to receive the same service model while gaining access over time to wider distribution opportunities and connectivity through Euroclear's international funds network.
