Key Takeaways

  • •BitMine, the largest Ethereum treasury company, holds more than 6,016,414 ETH—about 4.% of total supply—and has bought over 87,200 coins in the past 30 days as it approaches its 5% accumulation target.
  • •SharpLink, the second-largest Ethereum treasury holder, owns 868,699 ETH worth $2.16 billion, a position whose value moves directly with the token's price.
  • •Ether remains above its 50-day and 100-day EMAs after filling the September 18 fair-value gap, leaving a rebound toward $2,800, roughly 12% above current levels, as the initial upside target.
  • •BitMine and SharpLink shares retreated to about $24 and $8.81 respectively, yet both retain technical supports—an ascending trendline and 50-day EMA for BMNR, and a hammer candlestick pattern plus Supertrend indicator for SBET.
Ethereum Treasury Stocks Slide as ETH ETF Outflows Hit $579M

Ethereum treasury stocks — shares of companies that hold ether on their balance sheets — extended their declines this week as Ether lost momentum and institutional fund flows into ETH ETFs weakened. BitMine (BMNR) fell toward $24, while SharpLink (SBET) traded around $8.81, with both equities retreating from the September highs they reached after sharp run-ups earlier this year.

The sell-off coincided with Ethereum sliding from above $2,800 toward the $2,400–$2,500 region. Even so, treasury stocks can also move independently of the underlying token, because their market valuations do not always track the value of their crypto holdings one-for-one and can trade at a premium or discount to it.

Ether Retreat Coincides With Eight Consecutive Days of ETF Outflows

Ether has been in a pronounced downward trend in recent weeks, moving from a high of $2,806 to a low of $2,406 before stabilizing at $2,496.

The retreat has overlapped with sustained ETF outflows. Data shows the funds have recorded outflows for eight consecutive days, losing more than $72 million on Thursday alone and bringing weekly outflows to more than $485 million. Flow data is closely watched as a gauge of institutional participation in ether, since spot ETFs hold the token directly on behalf of their investors.

In total, the funds have shed more than $578 million this month, reversing course after adding more than $832 million in the previous month. Since launch, the funds have accumulated more than $13.3 billion in inflows and currently hold $15.6 billion in assets.

Despite the weakness, Ether retains some bullish technical characteristics. The daily chart shows the token peaked at $2,806 in September and then pulled back to a low of $2,410 on Thursday. That level matters because it coincides with the April 17 high, forming a break-and-retest pattern, a common continuation signal in technical analysis.

Ether has also filled the fair-value gap that formed on September 18 and remains above its 50-day and 100-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). As a result, the analysis notes, a near-term rebound remains possible. If it materializes, the initial target to watch is $,800, roughly 12% above current levels. For readers following the setup, the data points to watch are the daily ETF flow reports and whether Ether continues to hold the levels described above.

BitMine (BMNR): Trendline and 50-Day EMA Still Supporting the Stock

Tom Lee's BitMine has become the largest Ethereum treasury company, holding more than 6,016,414 ETH, equivalent to 4.92% of total supply. The company has bought over 87,200 coins in the last 30 days and is approaching its 5% accumulation target. That pace of corporate buying, set against eight consecutive days of ETF outflows, means the ether market's two most closely tracked large-buyer channels have recently moved in opposite directions.

Technical indicators suggest the stock has been in an uptrend over the past few months. It soared from a low of $12.80 in June to a high of $28.81 in September before retreating to about $24.

On the positive side, BMNR has remained above the ascending trendline that connects its lows since June and sits above its 50-day EMA, both of which are considered bullish signals in technical analysis. According to the analysis, the stock is positioned to rebound, potentially back toward its September high of $28.81. A move above that level would point to further gains, potentially toward $35. Whether BitMine keeps adding toward its 5% goal is a company-specific data point to watch.

SharpLink (SBET): Hammer Candlestick and Supertrend Support

SBET shares have staged a strong run in recent months, soaring from $4.46 in June to a high of $10.36 in September before retreating alongside Ethereum's decline.

The stock has also formed a small hammer candlestick pattern and has remained above the Supertrend indicator. That leaves open the possibility of a rebound, a move that would be confirmed if Ethereum itself recovers.

As the second-largest Ethereum treasury holder, SharpLink would benefit from an Ether rebound. The company holds 868,699 ETH, currently worth $2.16 billion. Because that position is denominated in ether, the value of its treasury moves directly with the token's price.
