Malaysia-based digital connectivity infrastructure firm EDOTCO Group is expanding its presence in the Philippines, with a focus on infrastructure sharing and technology solutions partnerships.

"The Philippines stands out as one of Southeast Asia's most compelling digital infrastructure markets. Its strong economic fundamentals, rapid digital adoption and growing connectivity needs present a significant opportunity for EDOTCO to deepen our role in supporting the country's digital future," EDOTCO Group Chief Executive Officer Adlan Tajudin said in a media release on Thursday.

The company considers the Philippines a priority market within its regional portfolio amid continued growth in digital infrastructure demand. EDOTCO also cited the National Digital Connectivity Plan, the government's roadmap for a more connected and inclusive digital ecosystem, as expected to support growth in the sector.

"Growing data consumption and expanding digital services are further increasing the need for reliable, future-ready connectivity nationwide," it said.

The Philippine push reflects a broader regional trend: as mobile operators across Southeast Asia face rising capital costs from network expansion and the rollout of next-generation technologies, many have been spinning off or outsourcing tower assets to independent infrastructure companies, a model EDOTCO has pursued across its regional footprint as a tower subsidiary of Malaysian telecom group Axiata.

As part of its strategy to expand its role in the Philippine digital economy, EDOTCO has appointed Sunil Issac as country managing director of EDOTCO Philippines to help accelerate growth and strengthen operational performance. Mr. Issac brings more than three decades of experience in the telecommunications and infrastructure sectors, the company said.

"The Philippines has strong long-term fundamentals for digital infrastructure. It is a large, highly connected market where reliable telecommunications increasingly underpins businesses, public services and everyday life," Mr. Issac said.

"Our ambition goes beyond building more infrastructure. We want to enable smarter, more resilient and more shared infrastructure that helps our customers expand efficiently, strengthen network performance and ultimately deliver better connectivity for Filipinos," Mr. Tajudin said.

According to EDOTCO, infrastructure sharing, network resilience, and greater use of technology are becoming increasingly important as telecommunications operators expand their networks while maintaining capital efficiency. The company said shared tower infrastructure can help mobile network operators accelerate network expansion, reduce capital requirements, and improve connectivity. That shared-infrastructure model is particularly relevant in an archipelagic market like the Philippines, where extending coverage across thousands of islands adds cost and logistical complexity for individual operators building standalone networks.
