Key Takeaways

  • The South Star silver anomaly at Star Range has been defined for more than three kilometres.
  • Diablo says the exploration results indicate a coherent mineralised corridor rather than isolated surface features.
  • Earlier work at the project included rock sampling, mapping and geophysics.
  • Rock sampling returned up to 1,310 grams per tonne silver and 0.2% antimony.
  • The Beaver County project includes several target types, including extensions beneath a historic mine, IP anomalies, shallow gold-silver mineralisation and copper-silver skarn targets.

HotCopper’s latest Watchlist this week featured Diablo Resources (ASX:DBO) chief executive Lyle Thorne, who discussed recent exploration at Star Range in Beaver County, Utah, and said the work had “expanded the scale” of the project.

Mr Thorne told HotCopper that the South Star silver anomaly has now been defined for more than three kilometres, with the continuity and strength of the geochemical corridor pointing to what he described as a potentially large footprint. “What we’ve found is a coherent anomaly, rather than just isolated surface features,” he said.

He added that when this is combined with Diablo’s early work at Star, which included rock sampling, mapping and geophysics, the area is emerging as “a genuine district-scale opportunity.”

The Beaver County project includes multiple exploration opportunities, among them interpreted extensions beneath the historic mine, induced polarisation anomalies, shallow gold-silver mineralisation and regional copper-silver skarn targets. Rock sampling has also returned results of up to 1,310 grams per tonne silver and 0.2% antimony, supporting the view that the area hosts a large, underexplored silver-antimony-copper system. For investors following early-stage resource exploration, the significance of that mix is the breadth of targets it gives Diablo to test across the same project area, rather than relying on a single style of mineralisation.
