Product Before Token: Five 2026 TGEs by Established Platforms

Key Takeaways

  • •1win, operating since 2016 with more than 30 million registered players in over 100 countries, plans to launch its Solana-based $1WIN token on October 30, with 10% of gameplay revenue funding weekly buybacks and 10% of tokens spent being burned, following CertiK and Halborn security audits.
  • •Backpack launched its BP token on March 23, 2026, directing 25% of the one-billion-token supply to its existing community, with 24% going to points program participants and 1% to Mad Lads NFT holders.
  • •GRVT held its TGE on July 30 after nearly $400 billion in trading volume had passed through the platform and more than 100,000 wallets had joined, positioning the token as an ecosystem membership asset offering lower fees and product access.
  • •Genius Terminal's GENIUS token launched in April 2026, converting platform activity points into token allocations, after the non-custodial trading terminal surpassed $15 billion in cumulative volume and attracted more than 27,000 active wallets.
  • •Zama launched the ZAMA token on February 2, 2026, after its fully homomorphic encryption protocol went live on mainnet in late 2025, with $118 million committed for 880 million tokens in its public auction at $0.05 per token.
Product Before Token: Five 2026 TGEs by Established Platforms

For years, the standard crypto launch ran in one direction: create a token, raise funds and build hype around a token generation event (TGE), then spend the following years trying to ship the product and community promised in the whitepaper. In 2026, that sequence has been inverted — at least by the launches that understand today's market. Exchanges, trading platforms and technology companies are increasingly arriving at TGEs with functioning products and users already in place.

Five launches this year illustrate the shift.

1WIN: Adding a Token to an Established Entertainment Business

1win takes the platform-first approach in its most literal form. The company has operated since 2016 and says it serves more than 30 million registered players across more than 100 countries through casino gaming, sports and esports betting, crypto payments and other entertainment products.

Its $1WIN token is designed as an additional layer on that existing business. Built on Solana, the token will have a fixed supply of one billion and utility spanning gaming, betting, lotteries and rewards.

The token's economics are also tied to platform activity. Under 1win's model, 10% of revenue generated from gameplay using $1WIN is intended to fund weekly market buybacks, while 10% of $1WIN spent through supported products will be burned. Ahead of the planned launch, the project's smart contracts completed security assessments from CertiK and Halborn. The final TGE date is October 30. That makes 1win the only one of the five launches described here whose TGE is still ahead — and, once it arrives, the first time the platform's buyback-and-burn mechanics will operate.

BP: Backpack Rewards Its Exchange Community

Crypto exchange and wallet company Backpack launched BP on March 23, 2026, after building an established presence across exchange services, wallet infrastructure and the Solana ecosystem. BP was designed around the existing platform rather than a separate protocol. According to Backpack's launch announcement, token utility includes trading-fee discounts, platform rewards, staking and ecosystem access.

Distribution also leaned heavily toward existing users: Backpack allocated 24% of the one-billion-token supply to participants in its points program, with another 1% going to Mad Lads NFT holders at TGE — a combined quarter of the total supply directed to the platform's existing community.

GRVT: A TGE After Nearly $400 Billion in Volume

Onchain wealth and trading platform GRVT extended the product-first logic further still. By the time GRVT reached its TGE on July 30, the company said nearly $400 billion in volume had already passed through the platform and more than 100,000 wallets had joined — figures GRVT disclosed alongside the TGE.

The token functions partly as an ecosystem membership asset, offering benefits such as lower trading fees and access to additional platform products and features. Rather than using the token to generate the platform's first users, GRVT distributed it into a trading ecosystem already operating at considerable scale.

GENIUS: Tokenizing a Live Onchain Trading Terminal

Genius Terminal followed a similar route with its GENIUS TGE in April. Before the token arrived, Genius had already built a non-custodial trading terminal combining spot trading, perpetuals, yield and cross-chain execution. By early 2026, the platform had surpassed $15 billion in cumulative trading volume and attracted more than 27,000 active wallets.

GENIUS launched in April, with points accumulated through activity on Genius Terminal converted into token allocations. The Genius Foundation subsequently confirmed completion of the TGE.

ZAMA: Protocol First, Token Second

Privacy infrastructure company Zama provides a clear technical example of the reversed sequence. Zama Protocol went live on mainnet at the end of 2025, ahead of the ZAMA token launch February 2, 2026. The protocol uses fully homomorphic encryption to enable encrypted data and transactions on public blockchains.

ZAMA arrived as a functional component of that infrastructure. It is used to pay encryption and decryption fees and to reward the operators and stakers securing the protocol, while protocol fees are burned.

Demand was visible before the TGE as well: Zama reported $118 million committed for the 880 million tokens offered through its main public auction, which cleared at $0.05 per token.

The TGE as the Last Step, Not the First

$1WIN, BP, GRVT, GENIUS and ZAMA span very different corners of the industry — online entertainment, exchange infrastructure, onchain trading and privacy technology — yet their launches share a defining trait. In every case, a working product or operating ecosystem was in place before the token arrived.

That alone does not guarantee any of these assets will succeed. It does, however, change what a TGE represents. Rather than serving as the moment a project draws attention to something it intends to build, the token generation event becomes the moment an established platform attaches a token to something its users already rely on.

For $1WIN, that means layering token mechanics onto a gaming business that has been running since 2016. Across crypto more broadly, it may indicate that the token is increasingly becoming the next stage of a product — not its starting point.
