Cognitive Credit, a provider of corporate credit data and analytics technology, has announced the launch of its Emerging Markets (EM) Corporate Bond dataset, expanding the firm's global coverage to over 3,500 issuers.
The new coverage universe includes detailed historical financial data and full disclosure libraries for more than 400 USD-denominated corporate bond issuers in emerging markets, with additional issuers slated for ongoing inclusion. The coverage list was developed in partnership with several leading buy-side and sell-side firms and has been benchmarked against widely tracked bond indices. EM corporate bond data has historically been more fragmented and less consistently standardized than comparable developed-market datasets, with issuers reporting under varying accounting frameworks, languages, and disclosure cadences across jurisdictions.
EM coverage now sits alongside Cognitive Credit's existing High Yield Bond, Investment Grade Bond, and Leveraged Loan licenses across US and European markets. All data published by the company is generated by its proprietary machine-reading technology, which structures financial reports and other corporate disclosures into dynamic credit models. These models are updated within 15 minutes of release, providing institutional credit investors with timely, granular, and transparent data — a capability that is particularly relevant for EM issuers, where information asymmetries tend to be greater and reporting practices less uniform than in developed markets.
The Emerging Market hard currency corporate debt market currently has over $2.5 trillion outstanding, having doubled over the past decade. Approximately 65% of issuers are classified as Investment Grade, and spreads currently sit at historic tights. Following double-digit losses in 2022, benchmark EM indices have returned an annualized 7.5% over the last three years. Against a macroeconomic backdrop marked by increased interest rate and commodity price volatility, geopolitical tensions, trade disputes, EM election cycles, and AI hyperscaler spending, investors are continuously required to re-underwrite corporate credit risk. At current spread levels, the marginal value of granular, issuer-level fundamental data is heightened, as compressed compensation for risk leaves less room for imprecise credit differentiation.
Sudha Sathiaseelan, Vice President of Data at Cognitive Credit, said: "The launch of our Emerging Market coverage universe – our seventh individual dataset – will continue to aid corporate credit investors as they face an increasingly challenging investing backdrop. By expanding coverage to over 3,500 issuers, including Emerging Market issuers, our clients can now access a truly global store of fundamental data, fully standardized across geographies and available on-demand."
Robert Slater, CEO and Founder of Cognitive Credit, said: "A core objective for Cognitive Credit is to deliver global credit investors consistently structured datasets that satisfy all of their coverage requirements across their various teams and strategies. The launch of EM corporates is our latest expansion focused on this target, with additional coverage growth to come in 2027."
The dataset can be accessed through multiple channels: the Cognitive Credit Web Application, which offers fully customizable credit models, advanced analytics, and a purpose-built Gen AI research assistant; a REST API for direct data streaming into proprietary business systems; an Excel Add-in for seamless integration into existing spreadsheet models; and a Claude Connector enabling direct querying of Cognitive Credit datasets from Claude. The inclusion of AI-native access points reflects a broader shift in institutional credit research workflows, where large language model interfaces are increasingly being deployed alongside traditional spreadsheet- and API-based tooling.
