CME Group to Launch Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap Futures on October 19

CME Group will add Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures to its roster of regulated cryptocurrency products, with both contracts set to go live on October 19 pending regulatory review, the exchange said on Tuesday.

The upcoming launch will bring the tenth and eleventh single-asset crypto futures products to CME's lineup. Each new contract will be offered in two sizes: a standard version and a smaller micro version, giving traders flexibility in the amount of exposure they take on.

Bitcoin Cash futures will represent 250 BCH, while the micro version will cover 25 BCH, one-tenth the size of the standard contract. Uniswap futures will represent 10,000 UNI, with micro contracts covering 1,000 UNI, likewise a tenth of the standard size.

At the time of the announcement, Bitcoin Cash traded at $338 per coin, up more than 25% on the day, with a market capitalization of roughly $6 billion. Uniswap's token changed hands at $9.28, a gain of 5.5% over 24 hours, giving it a market cap of $5.75 billion. Both assets traded higher on the day of the announcement. At those prices, a standard Bitcoin Cash contract would represent roughly $84,500 of notional exposure and a standard Uniswap contract about $92,800, with each micro version a tenth of those figures.

What the Two Tokens Do

Bitcoin Cash split off from Bitcoin in 2017. It was designed with a larger block size to support cheaper payments rather than to serve primarily as a store of value. Uniswap operates the largest decentralized exchange in crypto, and its token is used for governance, allowing holders to vote on upgrades to the protocol. Holders do not collect dividends.

A Regulated Venue for Price Risk

Giovanni Vicioso, CME's global head of cryptocurrency products, said market participants need broader, regulated tools to manage price risk as crypto markets mature. According to CME Group's press release, the contracts are designed to offer capital efficiency and exposure to “key crypto networks” in a round-the-clock, regulated venue.

CME's Ongoing Altcoin Rollout

The October debut is not CME's first altcoin expansion this year. In February, the exchange rolled out futures for Cardano, Chainlink, and Stellar. In April, it announced Avalanche and Sui futures, which began trading on May 4. Prior to Tuesday's news, CME's crypto lineup also included Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, and Solana. Alongside the five tokens added earlier this year, those incumbents give the exchange nine single-asset crypto futures heading into the October launch.

CME said its 2026 futures for Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar, Avalanche, and Sui have generated more than $1 billion in total notional value so far this year. Across all of its crypto products, futures and options averaged 279,800 contracts per day in the first half of 2026, equal to $8.3 billion in daily notional volume. Average open interest reached 264,600 contracts, or $15.4 billion.

Industry Response

Justin Young, CEO and co-founder of Volatility Shares, called the move “another important step” in the growth of CME's crypto futures. His firm already operates leveraged crypto ETFs tied to several of the same altcoins.

Noel Kimmel, president of Ripple Prime, said institutions “need around-the-clock access to regulated derivatives.” Ripple built the prime brokerage after acquiring Hidden Road in 2025, and in May it secured a $200 million facility to expand its lending operations.

If the regulatory review on schedule, trading will open on October 19, when Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap become CME's tenth and eleventh single-asset crypto futures products.
