Chainlink Extends TAO Access to Robinhood Chain and Supports 24/7 Commodity Perpetuals

Key Takeaways

  • •ForeverMoney is using CCIP to extend a 1:1 TAO representation and related liquidity routes to Robinhood Chain.
  • •Robinhood Chain already supports CCIP, so the integration expands supported asset access rather than introducing Chainlink’s cross-chain infrastructure to the network.
  • •GMTrade is using Chainlink Data Streams to supply price and market-status information for leveraged commodity perpetual contracts.
  • •GMTrade’s contracts provide synthetic exposure rather than physical ownership of commodities and may remain available when underlying markets are closed.
  • •The announcements did not provide liquidity, volume, adoption or execution figures needed to assess the commercial depth of either integration.
Chainlink Extends TAO Access to Robinhood Chain and Supports 24/7 Commodity Perpetuals

Chainlink has announced two integrations involving Robinhood Chain and onchain commodity markets. ForeverMoney is using Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to extend a 1:1 TAO route to Robinhood Chain, while GMTrade is using Chainlink Data Streams to support commodity perpetual contracts.

The integrations rely on Chainlink infrastructure but address different constraints in onchain markets. ForeverMoney is focused on asset access, giving Bittensor’s TAO a route to another blockchain. GMTrade is focused on market operation, supplying price and market-status data to a leveraged onchain venue while users trade.

ForeverMoney Uses CCIP to Extend a TAO Route

Chainlink described ForeverMoney’s expansion as bringing “1:1 native TAO” to Robinhood Chain. In practical terms, the integration gives users access to a 1:1 TAO representation through ForeverMoney’s bridging system. The ForeverMoney application displays TAO routes and liquidity pools on Robinhood Chain, with CCIP providing the cross-chain infrastructure.

Chainlink announced the integration on X:

The announcement does not confirm that TAO can be bought through Robinhood’s consumer brokerage app. Instead, it gives Robinhood Chain users and users of ForeverMoney’s application another route for moving or using TAO in an Ethereum-compatible environment.

Robinhood Chain already supports several bridging routes, including CCIP, according to its developer documentation. ForeverMoney’s addition therefore expands the assets that can use existing cross-chain rails rather than introducing Chainlink to the network for the first time. ForeverMoney’s website is available at forevermoney.ai.

The main question is whether the route can be used at scale. Early transaction growth on Robinhood Chain showed that the network can attract broad crypto activity, but transaction counts do not indicate whether a bridged asset has sufficient liquidity for trading, lending or use as collateral.

For ForeverMoney, relevant adoption measures would include TAO bridge balances, pool depth, transfer frequency and the cost of entering or exiting the asset on Robinhood Chain. Until those figures are available, the integration represents a new technical route rather than a proven market with deep liquidity.

GMTrade Adds Data Streams to Commodity Perpetuals

GMTrade is using Chainlink Data Streams for commodity perpetual markets. GMTrade describes its real-world-asset products as leveraged markets that provide synthetic exposure to equities, foreign exchange and commodities, rather than ownership of the referenced assets. More information about its RWA markets is available in GMTrade’s documentation.

Because the venue operates onchain, its commodity-linked perpetual contracts can remain available around the clock. That does not mean the underlying commodity markets are continuously open. Gold, silver and oil may have limited trading hours, thinner liquidity or periods in which price discovery stops.

During those periods, a perpetual market must distinguish between a current reference price and a price that no longer reflects active trading in the underlying market. Chainlink Data Streams can provide price and market-status inputs for this type of venue. GMTrade’s contracts and risk-management rules, however, determine how trading, pricing and liquidations are handled when the reference market is closed or the data is stale.

Commodity perpetuals do not give users physical ownership of gold, silver, oil or other underlying assets. They provide synthetic exposure through leveraged contracts, and the availability of a contract outside traditional market hours does not create fresh price discovery in the underlying commodity market.

Continuous Access Brings Additional Risks

Around-the-clock access can allow traders to respond to news outside conventional market hours. It can also leave positions exposed when an underlying commodity market reopens at a materially different price. A perpetual venue may remain open during a market closure, but it cannot independently generate new information about the value of the underlying commodity.

Oracle data can reduce the risk of acting on an outdated reference price. It cannot eliminate basis risk, thin liquidity, funding costs or liquidation risk. The quality of GMTrade’s commodity markets will depend on how its safeguards and liquidity perform during periods when traditional markets are closed or less liquid, not simply on whether contracts can trade on a Sunday.

For GMTrade, the relevant indicators would include trading volume, open interest, available liquidity and execution quality when traditional commodity markets are unavailable. Neither announcement provides the figures needed to assess adoption or market depth.

The integrations will become commercially meaningful only if they produce usable TAO liquidity on Robinhood Chain and orderly commodity-perpetual trading during periods when traditional markets are unavailable. Until those measurements emerge, the announcements describe new infrastructure and technical routes, not markets whose liquidity and execution have been established.
