Cargo-Partner reduced its customers’ ocean freight emissions by 811 tonnes of CO2e in the first half of 2026 through a sustainable marine fuel programme with shipping firm Hapag-Lloyd.

The logistics company said the reduction was achieved through Hapag-Lloyd’s Ship Green solution, according to a statement on Cargo-Partner’s website on Tuesday.

The programme is designed to help customers lower the emissions associated with ocean shipments by using lower-emission marine fuels. It operates through a book-and-claim mechanism, which allows verified emissions reductions to be allocated regardless of where the fuel is physically consumed within Hapag-Lloyd’s fleet.

That structure is significant for shippers that are seeking emissions-reduction options across global networks, because it lets the climate benefit be assigned to a shipment without requiring the cargo itself to be on the specific vessel running the biofuel. In practice, it is one of several tools logistics providers are using to offer lower-emission options while maritime operators transition their fleets and fuel systems.

Between January and June, 259.46 mt of waste- and residue-based marine biofuel was used in Hapag-Lloyd’s fleet. That volume resulted in CO2e reductions of 290.58 tonnes in the first quarter and 520.42 tonnes in the second quarter.

Cargo-Partner said the figures reflect growing customer demand for practical ways to reduce emissions from global supply chains.
