Canton Strategic Holdings (Nasdaq: CNTN), a Nasdaq-listed company formerly known as biotechnology firm Tharimmune, has announced plans to tokenize its common shares on the Canton Network, with trading expected to begin as soon as Nov. 2.
According to a Thursday announcement, the company partnered with TSV LLC, a trading venue for tokenized securities, and Fairmint, a transfer agent registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), to bring its shares onto the blockchain. The tokenized shares would carry the same shareholder rights as the company's Nasdaq-listed stock.
Yahoo Finance data shows the Nasdaq-traded shares, under the ticker CNTN, currently change hands at an average daily volume of 757,704 shares. At the time of writing, the stock was up more than 4.5% on the day, trading at roughly $2.13 apiece, with a market capitalization of $170 million.
Once live, tokenized share trading would be available around the clock through an automated market maker, with transactions settling immediately on the Canton Network. That setup would extend trading beyond the Nasdaq's regular weekday session and replace the standard one-business-day settlement cycle for US equities with immediate on-chain settlement. Fairmint would maintain ownership records and oversee compliance with share transfer requirements.
The announcement follows the SEC's September innovation exemption, which the companies said provides a regulatory path for trading tokenized US stocks on domestic platforms. Tokenized equities have become a growing focus for crypto-native platforms and traditional finance firms alike, as venues experiment with bringing stock trading on-chain.
Canton Strategic Holdings shifted its focus to digital assets in November 2025 after raising $545 million to build a business around Canton Coin. It changed its name in February and now holds the cryptocurrency, helps operate the Canton Network, and invests in projects built on the blockchain. Tokenizing its own equity would deepen that alignment, extending the company's ties to a network it already helps operate.
Despite its name, Canton Strategic Holdings is not the company behind the Canton Network, which was developed by Digital Asset. However, it maintains ties to the Canton Foundation through its investments and its participation in network governance. Whether the tokenized shares begin trading on the targeted Nov. 2 date, and how the arrangement functions alongside the existing Nasdaq listing, will be the next points to watch.
