BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu Visits Philippines, Reaffirms Commitment to EV Ecosystem Buildout

BYD Co., Ltd. Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu recently visited the Philippines, a trip described as marking "a significant milestone" in the continuing partnership between ACMobility and BYD Philippines and reaffirming both companies' shared commitment to accelerating the country's transition to electrified mobility.

The visit celebrated the progress achieved since the partnership began in 2023 between BYD — which Mr. Wang founded in Shenzhen in 1995 as a battery manufacturer and grew into one of the world's largest producers of new energy vehicles — and ACMobility, the mobility arm of Philippine conglomerate Ayala Corporation. Mr. Wang toured key facilities, including several BYD dealerships, showrooms of premium brand Denza in Alabang and Cebu, and ACMobility Charging Hubs, gaining a closer appreciation of the rapid growth of the Philippine electric vehicle (EV) market and the expanding ecosystem that supports Filipino customers. That growth has coincided with supportive government policy: the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act, enacted in 2022, sets fleet electrification targets for companies and public-utility operators and grants electric vehicle owners fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, while a five-year window of zero import duties on a range of electric vehicles opened in 2023.

He also engaged directly with frontline teams and customers, underscoring the value he places on the Philippine market and on the people driving its growth. The visit further highlighted the strengthened presence of BYD and Denza in the Philippines.

"The Philippines has become one of the most exciting and promising markets for new energy vehicles in the region," said Mr. Wang. "We are encouraged by the strong momentum of electrification and by the commitment of our partners at ACMobility to our customers. At BYD, everything begins with our customers — understanding their needs, investing continuously in research and development, and creating technology that genuinely improves people's lives. Together, we are building a smarter, electrified mobility ecosystem that will benefit more Filipinos in the years ahead."

"The cost of mobility has long been a pain point for Filipino households, and our view is that new energy vehicles address it directly," said ACMobility Chief Executive Officer Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala. "That conviction is what brought us to BYD in 2023, and it is why we have deployed resources across the entire ownership journey, whether that be distribution and retail, charging solutions, or after-sales support. Chairman Wang has now seen that work on the ground. We intend to keep expanding it so that electrified mobility becomes a practical option for more Filipino families."

Mr. Wang also met with BYD and Denza dealer principals and business partners, recognizing their role in expanding the brand's footprint and bringing electric mobility closer to more Filipino communities.

BYD's network in the country now spans 81 dealerships, while Denza — the premium marque BYD originally established in 2010 as a joint venture with Daimler — operates four dealerships nationwide.
