Bron Launches FaceScan, Powered by iProov, Enabling Wallet Recovery With a Single Face Scan

Author: Globalfintechseries·

Key Takeaways

  • •Bron has launched FaceScan, a wallet recovery feature powered by iProov's Dynamic Liveness, allowing users to regain wallet access with a single face scan after losing passkeys or devices.
  • •FaceScan verifies the user's Genuine Presence, confirming the recovering the wallet is the same one who set up the account, without a seed phrase, identity document, or any point of platform custody.
  • •The launch targets a core self-custody risk, as research from June 2026 estimated 774 million people globally own cryptocurrency and self-custodial users typically have no provider to reset lost credentials.
  • •FaceScan joins Bron's existing Guardian recovery option, in which two user-nominated trusted contacts help confirm identity, and users can enable either method or both for combined backup.
  • •The feature is available now globally across devices and operating systems, with iProov's liveness check designed to distinguish a live account holder from impersonation attempts.
Bron Launches FaceScan, Powered by iProov, Enabling Wallet Recovery With a Single Face Scan

Bron, a next-generation self-custodial platform for securely owning digital assets, has launched FaceScan, a wallet recovery feature powered by iProov's Dynamic Liveness™. Users who lose access to their passkeys or devices can now recover their wallet with a single face scan that confirms their Genuine Presence™ — verifying that they are the same person who set up the account.

The launch addresses a long-standing pain point for the self-custody market. Digital asset ownership is growing quickly: research from June 2026 estimated that 774 million people globally owned cryptocurrency. For individuals, families and businesses that choose self-custody — retaining direct control of their assets rather than relying on a third party — losing access to a device or credentials can create a significant recovery challenge. Unlike a traditional account, there may be no provider that can simply reset a password and restore access. Historically, that responsibility has been carried by safeguards such as seed phrases, which must be stored securely and reproduced exactly when needed; lose them, and access to the assets is typically lost with them. That trade-off — complete control paired with complete responsibility for recovery — is the backdrop against which FaceScan arrives.

“The industry has spent years pretending that losing everything is an acceptable price to pay for self-custody. It isn’t,” said Dmitry Tokarev, founder of Bron. “The challenge has always been making recovery possible without reintroducing the very third-party dependency that self-custody is designed to remove. FaceScan changes that equation by confirming that you are the person who set up the account, without Bron needing to know who you are, and without an identity document, seed phrase, or point at which we take custody. You shouldn’t have to choose between control and recoverability.”

FaceScan sits alongside Bron’s existing Guardian recovery option, in which two trusted contacts nominated by the user help confirm it is them. Users can set up either method, or both, and choose the option that best suits their needs — an arrangement that lets a biometric recovery route and a human one back each other up. FaceScan is available now globally across devices and operating systems, so the practical question for new and users is which path to enable, and whether combining the two offers the right balance of independence and backup.

Andrew Bud, founder and CEO of iProov, said: “Account recovery has always been the hardest problem in self-custody. Losing your device or credentials shouldn’t mean you lose access to what belongs to you. FaceScan provides an easy way to recover your account that doesn’t rely on a seed phrase or on someone else being available, so users can select the option that suits them best. iProov Dynamic Liveness confirms that the real owner of the account is there, live, in front of the camera, while protecting against attempts by an attacker to impersonate them.” The liveness check is the load-bearing element of that design: it is what distinguishes a live account holder from an impersonation attempt — the failure mode any biometric recovery system has to withstand.
