BlackRock (NYSE: BLK) shares rose in premarket trading on Wednesday after the world's largest asset manager reported third-quarter results that topped Wall Street expectations on both the top and bottom lines. The stock changed hands near $1,100 to $1,103, up roughly 3% to 4% from Tuesday's close of $1,066.12, as assets under management climbed 15% to $15.5 trillion.
The premarket move followed a down session. BLK fell 1.64%, or $17.80, on Tuesday. The premarket gain more than offset that decline, and as of late morning London time on Wednesday the stock was trading at $1,103.00, up $36.88, or 3.46%. Premarket trading occurs outside regular market hours, when volume is typically lighter and quoted levels can shift by the opening bell.
Earnings Top Wall Street Estimates
Adjusted earnings per share came in at $15.93, comfortably above the $14.30 analysts had expected. Revenue reached $7.75 billion, ahead of the $7.43 billion consensus and 19% higher than in the same quarter of the prior year.
Adjusted net income climbed 37% year over year to $262 billion, outpacing the $2.38 billion Wall Street had projected. On a GAAP basis, diluted earnings per share totaled $10.57, a 25% increase from $8.43 in the prior-year quarter. Adjusted figures exclude certain items, while GAAP results follow standard accounting rules.
$205 Billion in Quarterly Net Inflows
Clients sent $205 billion of net inflows to BlackRock during the quarter, with the money arriving across iShares ETFs, systematic active equities, private markets, and cash management. iShares is one of the world's largest ETF platforms. Long-term net inflows totaled $175 billion, of which $135 billion went into ETFs and $66 billion into active strategies.
Those flows helped drive 11% annualized organic base fee growth. Over the trailing twelve months, net inflows reached $869 billion. Assets under management hit $15.49 trillion, up 15% from $13.5 trillion a year earlier. The asset base matters to the business model because asset managers earn fees calculated on the assets they oversee, and the organic growth figure measures the fee gains generated by net new client money rather than by market moves.
The quarter's headline figures were summarized in an X post by market data provider Wall St Engine:

Margins and Other Revenue Lines
Adjusted operating income rose 27% from a year earlier to $3.33 billion, while the adjusted operating margin widened to 47.8% from 44.6%, an expansion of 320 basis points. A margin near 48% means roughly 48 cents of each revenue dollar remained after operating costs.
Technology services and subscription revenue grew 14% to $588 million, which the company attributed to continued demand for its Aladdin technology platform and for multi-product solutions. That line gives BlackRock a recurring revenue stream alongside fees tied to asset levels. Investment advisory performance fees came in at $630 million, up from $516 million a year earlier, driven mostly by higher revenue from liquid alternative products.
BlackRock also pointed to solid fund performance. About 92% of systematic equity assets and 71% of taxable fixed income assets were above benchmark or peer median over one year.
Fink Cites Integrated Platform
Chief Executive Larry Fink said the results demonstrate the value of the firm's integrated platform. He noted that adjusted earnings per share rose more than 35% from last year. The fourth-quarter report will offer the next read on whether the quarter's inflow pace, margin expansion, and technology revenue growth carried through year-end.
