Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) stock rose 4% on August 17 to trade at $18, after the company announced that it had repurchased 1.7 million of its shares during the week of August 10 to 14.
The buyback activity is part of a $4 billion share repurchase program under which Bitmine has now repurchased more than 20.8 million shares since July 1, 2026. The capital-return effort has run in parallel with the company's continued accumulation of Ethereum, its single largest asset. The pairing of large-scale asset accumulation with shareholder returns echoes the corporate-treasury playbook popularized by Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) with Bitcoin, which Bitmine has adapted for Ethereum.
ETH Holdings Reach 5.82 Million
Bitmine also added 9,926 ETH to its treasury last week, pushing its total Ethereum holdings to 5.82 million tokens. At $1,893 per ETH, based on Coinbase pricing, the holdings represent 4.8% of Ethereum's total supply of 120.7 million coins — a concentration level that places Bitmine among the largest corporate holders of a single digital asset and ties its balance sheet closely to Ethereum's price.
The company's total assets came in at $11.4 billion as of August 16, with the ETH position — worth roughly $11 billion at current prices — accounting for the overwhelming majority of it. Beyond its Ethereum holdings, the balance sheet includes 210 Bitcoin, a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, a $73 million stake in Eightco Holdings, and $78 million held in cash and marketable securities.
Staking at Scale
Of the 5.82 million ETH held by Bitmine, 5.06 million tokens — the bulk of the position — are staked through the company's MAVAN platform, short for Made in America Validator Network. The staked ETH is currently valued at $9.6 billion.
Staking on Ethereum involves committing tokens to operate validators on the network's proof-of-stake consensus system, in place since the chain's 2022 transition away from mining, and earning rewards for helping secure the network. By staking through MAVAN rather than leaving the ETH idle, Bitmine turns its treasury into a yield-generating base.
Tom Lee, Chairman of Bitmine, said annualized staking revenues from the platform are now projected at $250 million. The 7-day staking yield came in at 2.61% annualized.
Bitmine says it plans to expand MAVAN to serve institutional investors and custodians as it continues building out the staking platform, a step that would extend the network beyond Bitmine's own treasury and add a services dimension to the company's revenue.
Bitmine was added to the Russell 1000 Large-cap index on June 26, 2026, and counts a roster of institutional backers that includes ARK's Cathie Wood, Pantera, Kraken, Founders Fund, DCG, and Galaxy Digital. Inclusion in a large-cap benchmark typically widens a stock's potential shareholder base among funds that track such indexes.
Price Action and Key Levels
BMNR is up roughly 50% from its June 30 low of $12, a rebound that has coincided with the buyback program, which began July 1. The stock's relative strength index (RSI) currently sits at 59 and is making higher highs, a technical pattern that suggests buying pressure continues to build.
The shares are testing resistance at $18.80, which marks the midline of an ascending parallel channel. A close above that level could open the door to the $20 psychological level. Should BMNR instead close below $18.80 and slip under the lower trendline of the channel, the next support sits at the lower Bollinger band of $16.27.
Macro Backdrop
The broader market provided a tailwind on Sunday, with the Nasdaq 100 up 0.17% on optimism that the US Federal Reserve will hold rates steady in September. Goldman Sachs has warned investors against betting on a rate hike after CPI data showed cooling inflation.
Weak US jobless claims data also fed into the broader macro picture, with some investors expecting the Fed to cut rates before the end of the year.
