Bitmine ETH Holdings Near 5% as Ether Breaks $2,500

Tom Lee’s Bitmine Immersion Technologies continued to add Ether last week as the cryptocurrency staged a sharp breakout after a prolonged downturn.

The company said Monday that it bought 32,447 Ether (ETH) last week, lifting its total holdings to 5,847,611 ETH, or roughly 4.8% of Ethereum’s circulating supply. Bitmine has purchased ETH every week since launching its Ethereum treasury strategy on June 30, 2025, extending its buying streak to roughly 14 months. Its NYSE-listed shares rose about 8.7% at the start of the week and were positioned to build on gains of nearly 28% over the past six months.

Bitmine said it is now 97% of the way toward its stated goal of owning 5% of the ETH supply. The company has also staked 5.07 million ETH, or about 87% of its holdings, and reported combined crypto, cash, securities and other investments of $14.9 billion.

The latest purchase came alongside a broad rally in Ether and the wider cryptocurrency market. ETH has outperformed Bitcoin since last Wednesday, when the US Treasury announced plans to double its monthly purchases of certain longer-dated US Treasurys to $4 billion from $2 billion starting next month. The move added another layer of attention to macro conditions already shaping digital asset trading, where liquidity and rate expectations often influence sentiment across major tokens.

Since that announcement, Ether has climbed more than 32% and moved above $2,500 for the first time since January, according to CoinMarketCap data.

Ether rebound narrows Bitmine’s paper losses

Bitmine’s aggressive Ether buying during the market downturn left the company with large unrealized losses as ETH prices continued to fall. The cryptocurrency’s recent recovery has sharply reduced that shortfall, illustrating how quickly digital asset treasury balances can shift when token prices move.

According to DropsTab data, Bitmine has invested more than $19.5 billion in its Ether treasury, and its paper losses have fallen to below $5 billion from more than $8.4 billion about a week earlier.

The swings in Bitmine’s unrealized losses underscore the volatility facing digital asset treasuries, whose valuations can change significantly as market conditions shift.
