BitMart starts a multi-stage shutdown process
According to BitMart, the wind-down began after July 26, 2026. The exchange has halted new user registrations, crypto and fiat deposits, and the creation of new trading orders. Futures trading has been placed in reduce-only mode, meaning users can reduce or close existing positions but cannot increase exposure, while spot markets are no longer accepting new orders.
In its official notice, BitMart said all trading services, including Spot and Derivatives, will be phased out on August 26, 2026. Users who still have open futures positions after that date may have those positions settled by the platform under the applicable settlement rules.
BitMart said it will officially decommission the platform on January 31, 2027. Withdrawal services, however, are expected to remain available beyond that date.

Users urged to withdraw assets early
BitMart repeatedly emphasized that users should not wait until the final deadline to move funds. The exchange urged users to withdraw assets and cancel open orders as early as possible before closing trading positions.
The company said some withdrawal requests may require additional verification. Those reviews may include know-your-customer checks, source-of-funds verification, sanctions screening, Travel Rule compliance, wallet ownership identification and transaction risk analysis. Such checks are common compliance measures for centralized exchanges handling customer withdrawals across multiple jurisdictions.
BitMart also warned that processing times could increase during periods of heavy withdrawal activity in the wind-down phase. Users were advised to review account details and withdrawal information carefully before submitting requests in order to reduce the risk of delays.
Another centralized exchange leaves the market
BitMart was established in 2017 and grew into a cryptocurrency exchange serving users across multiple jurisdictions. The platform became known for a large number of token listings, futures trading, staking services and a launchpad.
The shutdown underscores the increasingly competitive environment for centralized crypto exchanges. Trading volume has remained concentrated among a smaller number of large platforms, while mid-sized exchanges have faced challenges maintaining liquidity and market share.
BitMart did not disclose specific financial information related to the shutdown. Instead, the company cited business conditions, market factors and future strategic considerations as the basis for its decision.
The announcement comes during a period of consolidation across the crypto sector. In response to regulatory changes and rising competition, several exchanges have reduced operations, merged with other businesses or withdrawn from specific markets.
For BitMart users, the immediate steps outlined by the company are to close positions, maintain access to accounts, complete any required verification procedures and withdraw assets before the August trading cutoff. BitMart said it intends to conduct the wind-down in an orderly and transparent manner, while urging users to act promptly during the platform’s final months of operation.
