Bitcoin Falls Below $77,000 as Spot ETF Outflows Reach $462.7 Million

Bitcoin fell below $77,000 on Sunday, trading at approximately $76,725, down 0.80% from the previous session. The cryptocurrency had ended Saturday near $77,300 before declining further in early Sunday trading.

The 24-hour trading range was roughly $76,393 to $79,607, leaving Bitcoin near the lower end of the range at the time of reporting. Higher bond yields and expectations that interest rates will remain elevated have increased the appeal of dollar-denominated assets, maintaining pressure on Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market.

Sentiment Cools After Reaching Two-Year High

CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost said Bitcoin’s market sentiment briefly rose above 89 out of 100, entering what he described as “extreme greed” territory. It was the index’s highest reading since March 2024 and reflected the strongest investor enthusiasm associated with the rally in the past two years.

Darkfost wrote on X:

The last time we saw such a bullish market sentiment was in March 2024. This Bitcoin rally has sparked the strongest investor enthusiasm in the past two years. This market sentiment index managed to reach a score above 89 out of 100, a value of extreme greed.

Darkfost later said sentiment had cooled from its peak while Bitcoin attempted to hold its current price level. He noted that extreme readings in either direction can occur near market turning points, but did not make a specific price prediction.

For comparison, Alternative.me’s separate Fear & Greed Index stood at 63, classified as “greed,” at the time of reporting. That index incorporates volatility, trading volume, social media activity, and search trends.

Bitcoin Suisse Presents Portfolio Allocation Case

Bitcoin Suisse’s Crypto Wealth Management Report 2026 argued that Bitcoin can add value to traditional investment portfolios. The firm said that artificial-intelligence investment is concentrating exposure among a small number of technology companies, while U.S. federal debt has surpassed $40 trillion. In its assessment, bonds no longer provide the same level of diversification they once did.

Bitcoin Suisse’s modelling showed that adding a 1% Bitcoin allocation funded from bonds would raise annualized portfolio returns from 6.2% to 7.2%. A 2.5% allocation would increase the modelled return to 8.6%.

The report’s context also included expected spending by major U.S. hyperscalers. Those companies are expected to spend more than $800 billion on artificial intelligence in 2026 and over $1 trillion in 2027.

U.S. inflation data showed that prices increased 3.4% over the 12 months through August, matching July’s annual rate. The Federal Reserve’s next policy meeting is scheduled for September 15–16. The inflation reading and expectations for continued rate pressure remain relevant factors for dollar-denominated assets and cryptocurrency markets.
