U.S. crypto exchange-traded funds closed Tuesday, October 13, in the green on both sides of the market. Spot Bitcoin funds recorded $175.62 million in net inflows, while spot Ethereum products added $24.84 million, according to SoSoValue data.

For Ethereum funds, the session marked the first day of net inflows this month after a long run of daily outflows. The joint turnaround followed a difficult stretch: in the week ending October 9, Bitcoin ETFs lost $681.10 million, and Ethereum ETFs shed $542.07 million over the same period.

Both product groups are relative newcomers: U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs began trading in January 2024, and spot Ethereum funds followed that July, giving traditional investors a regulated wrapper for direct crypto exposure through standard brokerage accounts.

Fidelity's FBTC Leads $176 Million in Bitcoin ETF Inflows

Fidelity's FBTC did most of the heavy lifting, pulling in roughly $103 million — well over half of the day's $175.62 million total. The inflow reversed the $65.40 million outflow recorded on October 12.

Fidelity is one of the world's largest asset managers and among the traditional finance firms operating a U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF, a lineup that has drawn allocations from beyond the crypto-native investor base since launch.

Cumulative net inflows for Bitcoin ETFs now stand at $57.22 billion, with total net assets at $106.98 billion. Trading volume across the products came in at $1.65 billion for the session.

Despite Tuesday's gains, net assets remain below where they stood at the start of last week: the funds held $110.77 billion on October 5. The worst day of the month came on October 7, when $487.07 million left the products — the largest single-day outflow so far in October for ETFs tracking Bitcoin. Across the first two trading sessions of the current week, spot Bitcoin funds have posted $110.22 million in net inflows.

Grayscale's Mini Trust Paces the Ethereum Turnaround

Grayscale's Ethereum Mini Trust, which trades under the ticker ETH, led the Ethereum side with $16.73 million in inflows, about two-thirds of the day's $24.84 million total. The positive print ended a streak of eight consecutive outflow days that ran from October 1 through October 12. The heaviest withdrawals came on October 6 and October 7, when Ethereum funds lost $201.89 million and $160.77 million, respectively.

The Mini Trust is the lower-fee alternative to Grayscale's flagship Ethereum Trust, a structure the issuer introduced to compete on cost with rival Ether funds from other asset managers.

Ethereum products have been the weaker side of the crypto ETF market this month. Cumulative net inflows sit at $13.20 billion, down from $13.84 billion on October 1, while total net assets stand at $15.83 billion, compared with $17.71 billion at the start of the month. The weekly picture is still negative: Ether funds show a $60.56 million net outflow for the current week, meaning one green session has not covered Monday's $85.40 million exit.

First Joint Inflow Day of October

Tuesday was the first session this month in which Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs both posted inflows on the same day, drawing a combined total of roughly $200.46 million. Bitcoin funds had already logged four positive days in October — October 1, 2, 6 and 9 — while Ethereum products had recorded none until now.

The daily flow figures are widely tracked because they are tied directly to activity in the underlying coins: when ETF shares are created, issuers buy Bitcoin or Ether to back them, and when shares are redeemed, that exposure is sold. That makes net creations and redemptions one of the clearest public gauges of demand for the two largest cryptocurrencies through regulated vehicles.

One day does not make a trend. Bitcoin ETF flows have swung sharply in both directions this month, with eight of nine sessions moving more than $60 million either way. Ethereum ETFs have lost close to $1.9 billion in total net assets since October 1, and a $24.84 million inflow barely dents that gap. The next few sessions will show whether buyers are back or whether Tuesday was only a pause in the selling.

BTC Price Analysis: Can ETF Inflows Support a Recovery?

Bitcoin was trading around $83,263 on the 1-hour BTC/USDT chart at the time of writing. Price has moved sideways since bouncing from a sharp drop toward $80,393, and the short-term trend reads neutral to slightly bearish.

The nearest support sits at $82,500 to $82,800. Below that, $81,000 to $81,500 is the next zone, followed by the $80,393 swing low. On the upside, BTC faces immediate resistance at $83,800-$84,200, and a decisive move above $84,500 would improve the short-term outlook, with $85,000 as the next target.

In a bullish scenario, BTC would need to clear the $84,000-$84,200 range on stronger volume and hold above it, potentially triggering a run to $84500 and then $85,000. In a bearish scenario, a drop below $82,500 that fails to recover would put $81,500 back in play, with $80,393 as the main downside level.

Steady inflows into crypto ETFs would give buyers some support. One green session is a start, but traders will want to see the inflows repeat before calling the bounce a sustained recovery.
