Key Takeaways
- •Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $517.2 million in net inflows on Aug. 19, their strongest daily total since early May.
- •BlackRock’s IBIT led Bitcoin ETF inflows with about $284.7 million, more than half of the category’s total for the day.

- •Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF inflows combined reached about $706 million, indicating broader institutional participation beyond Bitcoin alone.
- •Solana and XRP ETFs also saw positive flows, but their inflows were far smaller than those of Bitcoin and Ethereum funds.

U.S. spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds attracted a combined $706 million in inflows to Bitcoin and Ethereum products on Aug. 19, as a sharp rally across the broader crypto market pointed to renewed demand from institutional investors. Because these funds hold their underlying coins directly rather than derivatives contracts, and give traditional investors crypto exposure through ordinary brokerage accounts, their daily flow figures have become one of the most closely tracked gauges of institutional appetite for digital assets.
Bitcoin ETFs Lead the Charge
Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $517.2 million in net inflows on Aug. 19, their strongest single-day performance since early May. BlackRock's IBIT topped the group with approximately $284.7 million, accounting for more than half of the day's total Bitcoin ETF inflows. IBIT has been the largest spot Bitcoin ETF by assets since the category launched in the United States in January 2024, and its daily totals regularly anchor the group's overall figures.
The inflow surge coincided with Bitcoin climbing above $69,000. The cryptocurrency rose more than 6% during the session as investors responded to improving liquidity expectations and a broader recovery in risk assets.
Ethereum Posts Largest Daily Inflow in Months
Ethereum ETFs drew roughly $189 million on Aug. 19, their largest single-day inflow since October 2025. BlackRock's ETHA accounted for approximately $122 million of that total. U.S. spot Ethereum funds began trading in July 2024, roughly six months after the first Bitcoin products, and ETHA has since grown into the largest of the Ethereum group by assets.
Combined, Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF inflows reached about $706 million, suggesting institutional buyers were broadening their participation beyond Bitcoin alone.
Altcoin Funds Trail Far Behind
Solana and XRP ETFs also posted positive flows, although their totals remained well below those of the two largest crypto assets. Available market data puts Solana's inflow at about $2.5 million and XRP's at roughly $2.35 million. Both product lines are newer entrants to the U.S. spot ETF market than the Bitcoin and Ethereum funds, and their assets under management remain a fraction of the size of the two older categories.
Hyperliquid's HYPE product moved in the opposite direction, with reports indicating approximately $2 million in outflows. The divergence underscores how institutional demand remains concentrated in the largest cryptocurrencies even as newer products attract attention.
The latest figures provide a stronger signal of renewed ETF demand following a period of weaker flows. According to the report, sustained inflows over the coming sessions would offer further evidence that institutional investors are rebuilding exposure to digital assets.
