US Spot Bitcoin ETFs Post First Monthly Net Inflow Since April, Ending July in the Green

US-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) closed July with positive net inflows, marking their first green month since April despite a late-month sell-off and Bitcoin price volatility. Spot crypto ETFs, which hold the underlying asset directly rather than tracking futures contracts, are widely monitored as a gauge of institutional and retail demand for regulated crypto exposure through traditional brokerage accounts.

According to SoSoValue data, Bitcoin ETFs attracted $172.4 million in net inflows during July, reversing two consecutive months of outflows. The combined outflows over the previous two months had reached nearly $7 billion, including June's $4.5 billion withdrawal — the largest monthly outflow recorded in 2026.

However, July ended on a weak note. The funds logged a $265.4 million net outflow on Friday, the largest daily withdrawal since July 13. Weekly flows also turned negative after three consecutive weeks of inflows, with a $61.53 million outflow recorded for the week ending July 31. The tepid finish signaled continued investor caution heading into August.

Year-to-date outflows persist despite July recovery

Even with July's modest inflow, US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs have posted approximately $5.3 billion in net outflows year to date.

Only three months in 2026 have been positive — March, April, and July — bringing a combined $3.46 billion in inflows. January, February, May, and June collectively accounted for roughly $8.75 billion in outflows.

Since their launch in January 2024, following a landmark approval by the US Securities and Exchange Commission after years of regulatory review, the products have accumulated $51.32 billion in cumulative net inflows, with total net assets standing at $76.29 billion at the end of July.

Ether and XRP ETFs show steadier demand

While Bitcoin ETFs faced renewed selling pressure late in July, certain altcoin ETF products maintained more consistent inflows.

Ether ETFs posted four consecutive weeks of inflows, finishing July with $365.2 million in net inflows — the second positive month for the products in 2026 following April's $356 million. Despite the recovery, Ether ETFs remained approximately $1.1 billion in net outflows year to date.

XRP ETFs also sustained steady demand, recording $27.3 million in July inflows and marking their fifth positive month of 2026. With approximately $343 million in net inflows year to date, XRP ETFs rank among the stronger-performing crypto ETF categories since their US debut in November 2025.
