Bitcoin Demand Stays Weak as 10-Year Dormant Supply Hits Record 3.56 Million BTC
Key Takeaways
- •Bitcoin has been relatively weak during a broader market rotation away from cash and toward equities, artificial intelligence and commodities.
- •Bitcoin traded at $63,579.40 after buyers lifted the price back above $63,500 from a recent decline.
- •More than 10-year-dormant Bitcoin has risen to a record 3.56 million BTC, equal to about 17.7% of circulating supply.
- •Over 14,000 BTC entered the dormant category in the last 30 days, and the cohort is considered outside the liquid trading float.
- •Technical analysis identifies $64,000 as the first resistance level, with support near $63,000 and stronger support around $62,000-$62,500.

Bitcoin is seeing weaker demand amid a broader market rotation, while holdings dormant for more than a decade have climbed to a record 3.56 million BTC. Glassnode reported that consumer confidence recently hit an all-time low even as stocks reached new highs, with capital moving into equities, artificial intelligence and commodities. Analyst Darkfost, meanwhile, noted that more Bitcoin continues to enter dormant supply.
Glassnode Tracks Bitcoin's Market Rotation
According to Glassnode, Bitcoin has been significantly neglected during the latest allocation shift. The firm said money has moved out of cash and into equities, AI and commodities. Even so, Bitcoin's short-term price action shows buyers returning near lower levels.
BTC trades at $63,579.40, up $182.85, or 0.29%, on the latest four-hour candle. The price recently fell from the $65,000-$65,200 area toward $62,800-$63,000, and buyers have since pushed it back above $63,500.
Immediate support sits near $63,000, while stronger support remains around $62,000-$62,500. On the upside, $64,000 marks the first resistance zone.
Dormant Bitcoin Supply Reaches a Record
Darkfost reported that Bitcoin supply untouched for more than 10 years has reached 3.56 million BTC, an amount equal to about 17.7% of the circulating Bitcoin supply. Notably, more than 14,000 BTC entered this dormant category during the past 30 days.
The figure carries added weight because Bitcoin's protocol caps total issuance at 21 million coins, meaning the decade-dormant cohort alone accounts for roughly one in six of all the Bitcoin that will ever exist. Coins in this group last moved around a decade ago or longer, when the asset traded at a small fraction of current prices. The record also comes as new issuance runs at a reduced pace following the April 2024 halving, which cut the per-block reward from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC.
Darkfost said the measure can change when previously untouched coins become active again. A rare example occurred in July 2025, when some long-dormant Bitcoin returned to circulation. Even so, the overall dormant supply has continued to increase.
The data therefore tracks Bitcoin that has remained unmoved for more than a decade, a cohort Darkfost described as supply that can be considered lost. Dormancy alone does not distinguish between coins that are inaccessible and coins being deliberately held, but either way such supply sits outside the liquid float available to trade.
BTC Momentum Improves Near $63,500
Bitcoin's momentum indicators have also strengthened during the recent recovery. The RSI stands at 57.69, while its moving average remains at 42.69. The MACD line is near -94.56 against a signal line at -183.01, and the resulting histogram reads 88.45, showing improving short-term momentum.
The analysis identifies a sustained move above $64,000 as opening the $65,000-$65,200 zone, with $66,000 as the next level above $65,200. Conversely, a rejection between $64,000 and $65,000 could bring $63,000 back into focus, and a break below that level would expose the $62,000 area.
