Bitcoin pushed through $86,500 on Tuesday, up roughly 14% on the week, lifting the total cryptocurrency market capitalization above $3 trillion. Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds took in $999 million on Monday — their biggest single day since October 2025 — and 97 of the top 100 coins are in the green over the past seven days. The breadth is the notable part: rather than a narrow, bitcoin-led move, nearly the entire top 100 is participating.

The rally stretched across the market. Ethereum touched $2,750 and Solana pushed to $120, while HYPE, ZEC and VVV all hit new all-time highs. Even the NFT leader CryptoPunks caught a bid, with the collection's floor price running past $90,000.

Wall Street was also on the move. The Nasdaq Composite closed at a record on Monday, up 2.26% for its best day since June, as Intel gained 12% and AMD added 10% while crossing a $1 trillion market capitalization. Chipmakers extended the move into Tuesday, marking their longest winning streak since April.

The oil selloff helped. Brent briefly slipped below $98 and WTI under $93, the lowest since September 8, after reports that Iran offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within days if Washington eases pressure. Trump told the UN General Assembly he expects a deal right after November's midterms, and Saudi Arabia is working to restart its East-West pipeline by the weekend. Those timelines — a possible pipeline restart by the weekend, a potential deal after the midterms — give traders concrete energy headlines to watch as the macro backdrop to the crypto rally takes shape.

Warner argues that the setup for the next bull market is becoming clear: the SEC and CFTC are providing market-structure clarity without the CLARITY Act, and a massive tokenization boom that is still in its infancy is underway, with Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev likely leading the way after showing off the kinds of primitives that can be spun up in just weeks using tokenized stocks on Robinhood Chain. Robinhood Crypto has also teased that something is coming for stock tokens. Traders who expected an early October bottom are slowly capitulating, as are retail buyers, he notes. "So hang on to your seats," he writes. "The next crypto bull market may very well be off and running…"

CME Futures and Regulatory Developments

CME Group will launch Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures on October 19, pending regulatory review, in standard and Micro sizes — making them its tenth and eleventh single-asset crypto contracts. Both tokens surged on the announcement, a reaction that underscored how closely each widening of the product shelf is watched ahead of next month's launch date.

Lummis said Democrats chose "visceral hatred" for Trump over passing the Clarity Act, while crediting Gillibrand and Alsobrooks as honest brokers in negotiations that grew the bill from 300 pages to more than 600. The comments lay out the legislative stalemate sitting behind Warner's core argument: market-structure clarity is arriving from regulators themselves while Congress's bill remains a work in progress.

The CFTC warned that "mention markets" heightened manipulation risk and can only be offered in limited circumstances, listing four factors exchanges must weigh before listing contracts on what someone will say.

A single repeating trade size near $5,499 made up 57% of Kalshi's sampled ETH perp volume, with $2,500 and $5,000 clips accounting for 54% of its bitcoin perps — a pattern Kalshi attributes to its market maker incentive program but others are calling obvious wash trading. The debate over where that volume comes from lands amid heightened regulatory attention to manipulation risk in novel market formats, making volume quality on prediction platforms a storyline worth tracking.

The SEC sent a crypto custody proposal to the OMB covering broker-dealers and investment companies, letting firms hold non-security crypto without special registration and confirming advisers can use state-chartered trusts. OMB review is a standard step in federal rulemaking, so the proposal now has a concrete milestone to clear on its way through the process.

Coinbase is building post-quantum custody for its roughly $250 billion in assets, designed to support whatever signature scheme Bitcoin adopts, using programmable HSMs. At that scale, the project offers a window into how major custody operations are preparing for a potential overhaul of Bitcoin's cryptographic foundations.

BlackRock said AI agents will need machine-native settlement rails in a whitepaper called The Machine-Native Economy, naming stablecoins as the likely leader and floating tokenized claims on compute as a tradable, collateralizable asset. From the world's largest asset manager, the paper extends the same tokenization thread Warner highlights — from tokenized stocks toward machine-to-machine payments.

Corporate Treasuries and ETF Flows

The Bitcoin ETFs saw $715 million in net inflows on Tuesday; the ETH ETFs saw $162 million in inflows; and the SOL ETFs saw $29 million. Tuesday's bitcoin figure followed Monday's $999 million, putting two heavy sessions back to back and giving the institutional demand picture consecutive data points rather than a one-day spike.

21Shares listed Europe first Zcash ETP on Euronext Paris and Amsterdam alongside an ETHFI product, both physically backed at a 2.5% annual fee, a month after Grayscale's US Zcash ETF debut. Back-to-back launches on either side of the Atlantic show how quickly the ZEC product shelf is widening during the token's run to all-time highs.
