Atlas Mining appoints Jaime Bautista as independent director

ATLAS Consolidated Mining and Development Corp. has elected former Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista as an independent director.

Mr. Bautista was elected at a special meeting of the mining company’s board on Wednesday, Atlas Mining said in a disclosure on Thursday.

He served as Transportation secretary from 2022 to 2025. Before entering government, he was president and chief operating officer of Philippine Airlines from 2004 to 2012 and again from 2014 to 2019.

According to the disclosure, Mr. Bautista also serves as an independent director of the Philippine Stock Exchange, San Miguel Food and Beverage, Inc., San Miguel Corp., Eagle Cement Corp., and Mit-Pacific Infrastructure Holdings Corp.

He is also an adviser to the boards of the University of the East and the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center. His appointment adds to his existing roles in corporate boards, including companies in the financial, food and beverage, cement, and infrastructure sectors.

Atlas Mining reported net income of P3.97 billion in the second quarter, reversing a loss in the same period a year earlier as copper and gold prices increased. Gross revenue for the three months ended June rose 124.9% to P8.99 billion, while gross expenses increased 26.8% to P5.24 billion.
