- •U.S. indexes posted steep losses that erased their post-election gains, as the Nasdaq fell 5.52%, the S&P 500 dropped 4.36%, and the Dow declined 3.44%, while bitcoin traded down 5.8% at $75,908 and ether slid 8.2% to $2,234.
- •The sell-off spread to Asian markets on Friday, with South Korea's Kospi plunging nearly 9% early and triggering a brief trading halt before recovering to a 3.6% loss, and Japan's Nikkei 225 falling 5.3% in the morning session.

Cathie Wood's Ark Invest put about $117 million into technology and crypto-linked stocks on Thursday, buying shares of SpaceX, Nvidia, AMD and Coinbase even as a broad sell-off swept through U.S. technology shares and digital assets, according to the firm's latest trading disclosure.
The asset manager also trimmed two smaller crypto-related holdings the same day, selling roughly $4.55 million combined in Bullish and Bitmine shares through its exchange-traded funds.
Taken together, the four purchases totaled approximately $116.8 million, meaning Ark's buying outweighed its selling by more than $112 million. The day's buying was concentrated in artificial intelligence and space stocks, while the sales were limited to crypto names.
Ark publishes its ETF trades in a daily public disclosure, which is what makes a day like this traceable: the filings show, fund by fund, how the firm positioned itself through Thursday's sell-off.
Where Ark Put Its Money
SpaceX accounted for the largest purchase. Ark added 393,774 shares worth $48.7 million after the stock dropped 9% on the day. An X post from the account Brainrot Labs detailed the fund-level breakdown:

ARKK, ARKQ and ARKW are the Ark Innovation ETF, the Ark Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF and the Ark Next Generation Internet ETF, respectively — the firm's flagship exchange-traded funds.
Ark also bought 252,592 Nvidia shares worth $45.9 million. It was the firm's second-largest purchase of the day. Nvidia fell 9.26% on Thursday, a decline that wiped out the chipmaker's gains for the year.
The firm added 48,984 AMD shares worth $19.8 million. AMD plunged 17.26% during the session, though the chipmaker remained up 81% year-to-date. It was the steepest one-day drop among the stocks Ark bought.
Coinbase was the only crypto-related purchase in the disclosure. Ark bought 17,806 Coinbase shares worth $2.44 million through its Ark Innovation ETF. Coinbase lost 9.69% to close at $136.82, and the trade was the smallest of Ark's four buys by dollar value.
On the selling side, Ark sold 109,522 Bullish shares worth $2.27 million and 119,841 Bitmine shares worth $2.28 million. Bullish fell 10.46% on Thursday, while Bitmine slumped 12.56%. Both stocks fell more than Coinbase during the session.
Stocks, Crypto and Asia Fall Together
The trades came as major U.S. indexes posted steep losses that erased their post-election gains. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite closed down 5.52%, its worst day since April 2025, according to CNN. The S&P 500 lost 4.36% on the day, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 3.44%, leaving all three major U.S. indexes sharply lower.
AI-related stocks were among the hardest hit. The Democrats' win in the midterm elections sparked fears of a possible slowdown in AI development. Nvidia, AMD and SpaceX each lost 9% or more during the session.
Cryptocurrency prices also moved lower. Bitcoin traded down 5.8% over 24 hours at $75,908 as of 11:20 p.m. ET Thursday, after touching a local low near $75,350 earlier in the day. Ether dropped 8.2% to $2,234 over the same period, according to The Block's price data, with the second-largest cryptocurrency falling further than bitcoin in percentage terms.
The selling spread to Asian markets on Friday morning. South Korea's Kospi plunged nearly 9% early in the session, triggering a brief trading halt. The index later recovered part of that loss and was down 3.6% around noon local time. Japan's Nikkei 225 dropped 5.3% during the morning session.
Ark's disclosures are typically released with a one-day lag, so the next filing will show whether the firm remained a net buyer in Friday's session, while the Kospi's eventual close and bitcoin's level relative to Thursday's local low near $75,350 will show how far Thursday's selling carried over.
