ASX-listed Anteotech (ASX: ADO), previously better known as a battery technology company, has in the past 12 months shifted its focus toward the life sciences, or biotech, industry by applying its capabilities in materials coating and molecular science.

The company says the same research that made it a leader in materials coating has given it an advantage in medical applications, where it aims to disrupt the solid phase immunoassay landscape.

In practical terms, that shift places Anteotech in a field where performance depends on the reliability of diagnostic test components and the ability to handle complex biological materials. Anteotech’s materials expertise has also enabled it to work with difficult proteins and other biomolecules that are ultimately used in diagnostic tests, giving it an edge over other players in the sector.

One of the company’s products, AnteoBind, is part of a broader intellectual property portfolio, which remains central to how Anteotech is positioning itself in the life sciences market.
