Andover Elementary School in Andover, Connecticut, has completed a rooftop solar installation in partnership with Titan Energy and Greenskies Clean Energy. The project is intended to advance the school district's long-term sustainability objectives while providing stability for future energy costs.

The initiative followed years of planning and collaboration and forms part of a wider strategy to improve sustainability and efficiency across the district. Separately, the Andover Board of Education has approved additional energy-efficiency upgrades through Eversource incentive programs, including LED lighting retrofits and other building-efficiency improvements.

"I am proud of the new solar project at our school and the efforts of the Andover educational community and partnership with Titan Energy to promote sustainability and energy efficiency," said Valerie Bruneau, superintendent of schools. "I hope the town will continue to support these initiatives, creating further opportunities for financial savings and environmental stewardship in our community."

Greenskies Clean Energy arranged the project through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). PPAs have become a widely adopted financing tool for K-12 schools and municipalities across the United States, as the structure allows public entities — which generally cannot directly access federal solar tax incentives — to benefit from on-site renewable generation without owning or maintaining the system. Greenskies developed, financed, owns, and maintains the solar energy system, allowing the district to access renewable energy and long-term electricity savings without upfront capital investment or the responsibilities of system ownership.
