Anchorage Digital Bank, the first federally chartered cryptocurrency bank in the United States, has added custody support for Etherlink and seven assets issued on the Tezos layer-2 network, including xU3O8, a token that represents ownership of physical uranium.

The bank received the first national trust charter granted to a digital asset company by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in January 2021, placing it under the OCC's federal banking supervision.

According to an announcement shared with Cointelegraph, the other supported assets are wrapped XTZ (WXTZ), the liquid staking token stXTZ, stablecoins USDT, USDC and USDSM, and wrapped Ether (WETH). Wrapped tokens mirror the value of an underlying asset on another network, liquid staking tokens represent staked holdings that remain transferable, and stablecoins are designed to track the value of a reference asset such as the US dollar.

Through the integration, Anchorage's institutional clients can hold assets issued on Etherlink — an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible layer-2 network that settles on Tezos — in segregated accounts at the federally chartered bank, an arrangement that keeps each client's holdings separate from the bank's own funds. Etherlink's EVM compatibility means applications built for Ethereum can run on the network.

xU3O8 gives investors exposure to physical uranium, the fuel used in nuclear power generation, without requiring them to directly handle or store the commodity. At current price levels, the token has a market capitalization just above $9 million, according to CoinMarketCap data.

Anchorage is not the first institutional custodian to support the token. In August 2025, digital asset custodian Hex Trust integrated Etherlink to offer custody for xU3O8 and other assets issued on the network.

Physical uranium exposure has traditionally involved specialist intermediaries, lengthy settlement periods and relatively high minimum investment sizes, according to Anchorage. The company said tokenization — the practice of representing ownership of real-world assets as blockchain tokens — enables the commodity to be transferred and settled in minutes rather than weeks.
