Alaska Milk Corp. (AMC) has named Marjorie “Marj” Garrovillo as its new managing director, the company announced in a statement on Thursday.
Garrovillo brings more than 25 years of leadership experience gained across seven countries and spanning the food, beverage, telecommunications, and consumer goods industries.
Alaska Milk is one of the Philippines' best-known dairy companies, with a portfolio of affordable milk products that have been staples in Filipino households for decades. It has been part of FrieslandCampina since 2012, when the Netherlands-based dairy cooperative acquired majority control of the Philippine milk maker, placing the local brand under one of the world's largest dairy cooperatives.
In her new role, she will lead AMC as the company pursues growth opportunities and advances its goal of delivering affordable and accessible nutrition to Filipino families. That mandate comes in a market where milk is a basic household purchase and the Philippines continues to source most of its dairy requirements from abroad, keeping affordability and accessibility central to how local dairy companies compete.
The appointment marks a return to Alaska Milk's parent company, FrieslandCampina, where Garrovillo previously served as marketing director in Vietnam.
Prior to joining AMC, she held senior leadership positions at telecommunications firm Smart Communications; food and beverage companies Nestlé, Danone, and Coca-Cola; paints and coatings maker AkzoNobel; and consumer goods company Unilever, according to AMC.
Her expertise covers marketing, sales, operations, innovation, and sustainability. AMC said that throughout her career Garrovillo has led business transformations, developed new growth opportunities, and brought diverse teams together around a shared purpose — experience that maps directly onto the growth agenda AMC said it is pursuing. The company's statement did not disclose further details of its expansion plans or a start date for the new managing director.
