Airbnb (ABNB) is expanding its partnership with Instacart (CART) to offer grocery delivery nationwide across the United States, allowing travelers to order food and household items through the Airbnb platform before arriving at their accommodations. The service is also scheduled to launch in Canada within the next several weeks.
Travelers can place grocery orders up to 21 days before their scheduled check-in date. Orders totaling at least $10 qualify for free delivery. Customers do not need to download the Instacart app or create a separate Instacart account, and the address associated with the Airbnb booking is automatically populated in the order form. The setup addresses a familiar arrival-day chore for travelers: stocking a kitchen in an unfamiliar city without an immediate grocery run.
According to Airbnb, grocery delivery has consistently ranked among the most frequently requested features from its community. The US expansion now covers the overwhelming majority of qualifying reservations nationwide.
Airbnb announced the expansion in an official statement: Airbnb expands groceries with Instacart across US and Canada.

Two markets, Phoenix, Arizona, and Orlando, Florida, are testing an enhanced version of the arrangement. Property owners in those cities can volunteer to accept grocery deliveries for guests and stock refrigerators and storage areas before the guests arrive — in effect, the host completes the final step of the delivery.
“Our goal was to integrate groceries seamlessly into the travel experience rather than treating it as an additional task,” said Juan David Borrero, who leads global partnerships and business development at Airbnb.
Ryan Hamburger, Instacart’s Chief Commercial Officer, said the collaboration “creates additional demand for our retail partners while simplifying the process for travelers to obtain necessary groceries at any destination.”
Structurally, the partnership pairs Airbnb’s booking flow with Instacart’s retail network: Airbnb contributes the trip context and the delivery address, while Instacart’s retail partners supply the goods.
Airbnb and Instacart also analyzed purchasing activity across different destinations, identifying regional shopping patterns associated with local travel characteristics and activities.
Coastal destinations recorded strong demand for sun-protection products. Travelers visiting Madeira Beach, Florida, purchased sunscreen at approximately 4.5 times the national baseline. In the Great Smoky Mountains region, thick-cut bacon and pancake syrup were among the leading grocery purchases, while visitors to Nashville bought energy drinks at more than twice the nationwide rate.
Guests staying in Big Bear, California, showed a pronounced preference for campfire treats, with graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars ranking among the community’s most characteristic purchases.
The analysis also found substantial differences in demand for specific products. Miami travelers ordered bottled yerba mate at rates more than 3,000% above the national baseline. Los Angeles visitors purchased oat milk at more than double the typical rate, while Austin guests bought navel oranges at a rate 272% above the standard average. In Orlando, baby-food purees appeared in orders at a rate 188% above the national norm.
The Canadian rollout will follow the US expansion. Instacart has an established presence in Canada, where usage is particularly strong around major holidays and national celebrations. During the Easter season, orders for fresh-cut tulips rise 13-fold compared with the annual Canadian average. Before Victoria Day, garden-soil purchases increase fivefold, while orders for Canadian flags rise more than 40 times around Canada Day.
Airbnb said the Canadian service will launch within the coming weeks, with coverage expected to expand across the country over time. With the US expansion in place, the observable next steps for the partnership are the pace of the Canadian launch and whether the Phoenix and Orlando host-stocking pilot stays a two-city test or extends to additional markets.
