Ayala-led ACEN Corp. said its retail electricity unit has signed a power supply agreement with ACS Manufacturing Corp. to provide renewable energy to two of the consumer goods maker’s manufacturing facilities in Laguna.

ACEN RES, ACEN’s retail electricity arm, will supply the facilities with 100% renewable energy, the company said. The arrangement is expected to help ACS Manufacturing avoid about 4,270 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equivalent to more than 193,000 trees, according to ACEN.

The shift was made possible through the government’s retail competition and open access (RCOA) and retail aggregation program (RAP), which allow eligible electricity customers to choose their preferred suppliers.

“Our switch to renewable energy for our Laguna plants is a strategic move to align our manufacturing processes with our commitment to the environment,” ACS Manufacturing Chief Executive Officer Mailene Supetran said.

Supetran said the transition also seeks to improve operational efficiency while reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

Established in 1977, ACS Manufacturing produces consumer brands including Pride powder detergent, Shield bath soap and Unique toothpaste.

“By choosing to switch to 100% renewable energy, companies like ACS Manufacturing empower ACEN to continue developing more renewable energy assets in the country,” ACEN Senior Vice-President for Market Transformation and Retail Tony Valdez said.

“We remain committed to helping more eligible customers navigate the RCOA and RAP programs to realize both cost savings and a meaningful reduction in their environmental impact,” he added.

ACEN said ACEN RES held a 65% market share as of the end of 2025. The retail electricity unit sources power from ACEN, the Ayala group’s listed energy platform, which had about 7 gigawatts of attributable renewable energy capacity.
