根據 Baltic Exchange 執行長 Mark Jackson 的說法，航運業下一代風險管理工具，可能讓船東與租家直接對沖特定事件，而不必僅依賴傳統運費衍生品。

Jackson 將於 9 月 Splash Singapore 會議的散貨市場論壇上發言。他表示，隨著企業尋求對更廣泛的波動來源進行防護，結果市場可能與運費遠期協議及選擇權一同出現。在一個可能受船隊移動、地緣政治衝擊、天氣干擾以及貿易模式快速變化所左右的市場中，這套更廣泛的工具，不僅對風險轉移重要，對日常商業規劃同樣關鍵。

“Traditional instruments like FFAs and options will become more important than ever, but we may also see the emergence of new tools such as outcome markets where one can hedge against a fundamental event or factor directly,” Jackson said.

他補充，這類市場也可能透過產生數據，為商業決策提供有用資訊，幫助船東與租家更準確地評估變化中的風險。

隨著運費市場受到船隊移動、地緣政治衝擊、天氣干擾與快速變化的貿易模式影響，對更完善風險工具的需求正變得愈加迫切。

Jackson 表示，儘管今年開局強勁，波動性仍很可能是新加坡散貨市場討論的核心。現貨運價一直在多年高點附近交易，受 capesize 船型需求強勁支撐，而在艱難的總體經濟與地緣政治環境下，運費情緒也比預期更具韌性。

Baltic Dry Index 反映了這種強勢，升至自 2022 年中以來未曾見過的水平。該指數已在去年 10 月迎來 40 週年。

不過，Jackson 仍提醒市場，不能假設近期動能會毫無中斷地持續下去。

“Volatility will continue to have an impact on the dry bulk freight market and on tonne-mile demand,” he said. “In times of uncertainty, transparent and independent market benchmarks become even more important.”

技術將是當天在 Fairmont Hotel 會議中的另一個主要主題，而 Baltic Exchange 負責人對此也有不少看法。

“Trusted data, transparent methodologies and independent market benchmarks will become increasingly important as companies seek to make informed commercial and regulatory decisions,” Jackson said.
